When we hire you as a trainee, it is because we believe you can complete the education and become a skilled social- and health care assistant. We are a small municipality, and therefore we have the opportunity to follow our trainees closely throughout the education – both academically and personally.

You will be attached to two fixed education consultants who will follow you throughout your entire course, and during the onboarding periods you will have a fixed education supervisor. We focus on well-being and safe frameworks, because that is an important starting point for learning and development.

With us it is important that you develop yourself both professionally and personally. Trainees are different and come with different strengths and prerequisites. Some have taken an education before, others have not. We do not see illiteracy, language barriers, or lack of study experience as a problem, but as something we need to account for so you get the best conditions to develop.

The education and everyday life with us

As a trainee in Halsnæs Municipality you become part of both a trainee and learning community with other health-care students across the municipality and a social and professional community at your training sites. Here you join in everyday life together with your colleagues and your training supervisor.

What does the job as a social- and health care assistant involve?

There are many stereotypes about the SOSU profession, among other things that it “only” deals with personal care. But the job is much more than that. You support citizens in their daily lives, contribute to security and continuity, and participate in close collaboration with colleagues and other professional groups.

Facts about the education and employment

• Education start: Foundation course 2 in January 2027 and main course in January 2027
• Enrollment: January, April, July and October
• On-the-job training hours: 37 hours per week
• Employment: Temporary and applicable for the entire education period

After the education

When you have completed the education as a social- and health care assistant, you can work in the care sector with elderly, ill or people with disabilities.

You also have the opportunity for further education – for example to become a social- and health care assistant (further education as a nurse).

After completing the education you are guaranteed a job in Halsnæs Municipality as a fully trained social- and health care assistant.

Employment terms

As a trainee you are in onboarding for 37 hours per week. Working hours mainly take place during the day, but there may be some evening shifts, and in each onboarding period there will be two weekend shifts.

The employment is temporary and applies for the entire education period.

Salary and terms of employment are according to the applicable collective agreement. The base salary for the lowest pay step is 14,250.75 DKK/month excl. pension.
