About the job

The day centre at Stejlhøjhus, Elise Sørensensvej 2, 4400 Kalundborg, is seeking a social pedagogue for 25 hours per week for a maternity leave cover. There is also an opportunity for an additional 7 hours at a residential facility in Center 1 on Fridays during the daytime.

20 citizens and 4 staff at Dagcentret Stejlhøjhus are seeking a caring, inclusive and empathetic social pedagogue with a fundamental curiosity and interest in the social-pedagogical work with people with special needs. Perhaps you already have experience from the field?

Employment is expected to commence around 21 January 2027.

Who are we?

Dagcentret Stejlhøj §104 is an activities and social interaction offering for 20 citizens and 4 staff. We are part of the Social Adult Area, Center 1, which includes several residential facilities, social and activity offerings as well as sheltered employment. Work is carried out across different projects and tasks in Center 1, which is a natural part of our multidisciplinary collaboration.

You will become part of the work and daily life with the citizens at Dagcentret Stejlhøjhus, where we are open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 14:30.

The target group consists of people with very different disabilities, interests and needs. A common denominator is that most require support for personal care due to severe functional impairments, and that nonverbal language constitutes the primary means of communication. There may occasionally be a need for support and guidance through conflict situations.

Throughout Stejlhøjhus we work across the building with various projects and activities based on the citizens' interests, where the disability is not the decisive factor. Everyone has the right to a good life despite disability. There is also a joint citizen council across our three sites, where self-determination and co-determination are at the forefront.

What can you expect?

The core task in the Social Adult Area and Dagcentret is to provide help and support for all life activities in a way that the citizens experience the greatest possible quality of life, joy and self- and co-determination.

More concretely, your work will involve providing pedagogical support, guidance, care and nursing to our citizens. This includes, among other things, transfers, assistance with personal hygiene and eating, medication administration, planning and implementing pedagogical activities, as well as professional analysis and sparring on pedagogical and psychological issues.

We use, among other things, sign-to-speech (TTT), pictorial communication and other alternative communication forms in interaction with the citizens.

Your profile What do we expect from you?

  • can work preventively with a Low Arousal approach, maintain calm and reduce frustrations and conflicts among the citizens.
  • are mindful of your own communication and able to adapt it to the individual citizen through both verbal language, body language and demeanor.
  • can learn to interpret the citizens' individual nonverbal signals. Experience with sign-to-speech is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • are collaborative and seek dialogue and understanding for colleagues' perspectives. You respect others' views and actively contribute to our shared core task around the citizens.
  • actively participate in sparring meetings and professional discussions where we work with dilemmas from pedagogical practice and continually develop our collaboration.
  • are able to balance respect for existing structures and cultures with a curiosity for new ideas and development opportunities.

  • contribute to a good mental working environment with a positive approach to work life.
  • are physically and mentally robust.
  • have a driving license and can drive a minibus for shopping, excursions and transport of citizens

Why should you choose us Because...

  • the work at Stejlhøj gives you the opportunity to form unique and life-affirming relationships with fantastic people who need your help every day.

  • you have the opportunity for an introduction period and internal courses in Center 1.
  • you get a high degree of freedom with responsibility.
  • you will have a department head who works in a value-based and appreciative way, gives shared responsibility to the staff and expects us to jointly raise the core task with the citizens at the center.
  • you will have a daily life filled with activities together with the citizens, and if you have new ideas, we are happy to hear them.
  • you become part of an organization with a strong professional identity and values linked to the rehabilitative and neuro-pedagogical approach to people with physical and mental disabilities, where the citizens' wishes, dreams and co-determination form the basis for the pedagogical effort.
