Specialist in railway safety – help shape the future technical regulations

Banedanmark is undergoing a comprehensive change of the technical rules by which the railway is built, maintained and operated. The technical rules are moving from being nationally determined to, as far as possible, being based on European standards. As part of the transformation, we are assessing Banedanmark's infrastructure using the risk management process CSM-RA, which is the EU's common safety method for risk assessment and risk evaluation within the railway sector.

We are therefore seeking a specialist who has worked with risk assessments, and who can contribute to planning, facilitating and documenting the risk management process for Banedanmark's future risk-based technical rules.

As a specialist in risk assessment you will have a central role in the transformation, where you will work closely with Banedanmark's technical experts. You will also help ensure that the new technical rules both support high safety, meet applicable requirements and standards and function in practice while you navigate the intersection of compliance, risk management and practicality.

Your tasks

You will take a project-leading role in the section, where you will contribute to the transformation of Banedanmark's technical rules through the business project Technical Requirements for the Infrastructure (TKI). In addition, you will help keep the existing rules up to date using Banedanmark's existing processes.

Your primary tasks will include

• Be co-responsible for the drafting of the CSM-RA documentation in relation to the TKI project
• Project management of subprojects in the TKI business project including risk management tasks and schedule control
• If needed, project management of rule projects handled according to the existing processes
• Coordinate and collaborate across disciplines and teams to ensure that all relevant interfaces in the infrastructure subsystems are covered with respect to the technical rules among themselves and in the overall railway system
• Facilitate workshops and contribute to conducting risk workshops as part of the risk management process.

Experience with risk assessment

Relevant higher education is an advantage, but experience with risk assessment and risk management is weighed more highly than specific educational background. It is a criterion for us that you have experience with the use of the CSM-RA method, documentation per EN 50126 or another method for risk assessment.

Since you will be working with risk assessments and risk management, you will need your overview and your structured approach to the task solving, in order to see connections across and act when necessary. You take on responsibility and thrive at taking a central role from the start. You can maintain an overview and ensure progress in complex tasks, even when tasks change direction and priorities are adjusted.

Experience with cross-disciplinary collaboration with different fields and stakeholders. Ability to clearly communicate technical issues and collaborate on solutions across different professional perspectives. Good collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to identify needs, ask clarifying questions and create a common understanding of complex problems.

Your workplace is in Ringsted, but there will be meeting activity in both Copenhagen and Fredericia.

You will become part of the Section for Rule Change, which consists of rule project managers who work with and develop safety management, processes, quality management and Banedanmark's technical rules for railways, and a specialist team of five discipline specialists who work with EU regulation Technical Specifications for Interoperability, both nationally and internationally.

Salary and terms of employment

If you are an academic, you are employed under the then-current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state.

You will be placed on the basis of academic seniority and experience as a senior consultant under the applicable collective agreement, which you find here and the Employee and Competence Authority's salary overview, which you find here.

Depending on your qualifications and competences there is a possibility for negotiation of an allowance. There will be an employer-funded pension scheme of 18.07%.

Otherwise you will be employed under the currently applicable Joint Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations – The Public Sector Area (OAO-S Joint Agreement) and the organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT staff.

The position is generally placed in salary grade 4, region according to the applicable collective agreement, which you find here and the Employee and Competence Authority's salary overview, which you find here.

Depending on your qualifications and competences there is a possibility for negotiation of an allowance. There will be an employer-financed pension scheme of 16% attached to the total salary.
