About the job

Are you a staff member with pedagogical experience and would you like to work with young people with multiple disabilities? Then you now have the opportunity to help shape a meaningful youth life in Spor D at UiU Horsebakken.

UiU Education Centre, Horsebakken department, is seeking as of December 1, 2026 an engaged and professionally grounded employee for a permanent full-time position in Spor D.

About UiU and everyday life in Spor D

UiU is the City of Copenhagen's STU and 10th-grade offer to young people with special needs and extensive general learning difficulties. The young people are aged 15-25 and stay at UiU for up to four years.

Spor D is UiU’s offering to young people who typically have several disabilities – e.g., cerebral palsy, epilepsy, visual impairment, blindness or autism. Many have little or no spoken language and use specialized tools and personal aids such as a walking frame and wheelchair. Our students need support for almost all everyday activities such as eating, dressing and undressing, personal hygiene and toilet visits.

Our approach is appreciative and adapted to each individual young person's potential. The goal is to support the young people in becoming as independent and socially competent as possible, so they have the most possible influence on their own lives. We do this, among other things, by planning a daily life with both structure, repetition and visual aids, where the young people learn to navigate, make choices and relate to their daily life in the community.

We work with communication and various alternative communication forms such as PODD, sign language, pictures, boardmaker, iPads and smartboards. The physical body also has great importance, and therefore movement, sensory stimulation, music, cooking and creative activities are also part of daily life.

Your role and tasks

As a trained and pedagogical staff member in Spor D, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team where we help each other solve daily tasks – both in teaching, activities and with practical tasks around the students, such as eating, changing and toilet visits. You also take responsibility for documenting each student's development and for being a contact person for some of the young people, which involves close collaboration with parents and a good cooperation with the club's staff.

You will have the opportunity to influence the development of the educational interventions within the team.

You must thrive working cross-disciplinary and contribute your own professionalism to the team. It is expected that you participate in the group's daily life on an equal footing with other staff and participate in all relevant tasks.

We expect that you

  • are educated as a psychomotor therapist or pedagogue
  • have the desire and courage to work with young people with multiple disabilities at an early development stage
  • have interest or experience with alternative communication forms
  • have knowledge about sensory stimulation and sensory integration, as well as experience with special tools and ADL training
  • are motivated to create structure and predictability for the young
  • can document and convey the students' progression in writing and orally
  • can take responsibility as UiU's assistive device administrator
  • thrive with close cooperation with colleagues, parents and other professional groups
  • it would be helpful to have knowledge of autism or visual impairment, but not a requirement

We offer

  • an exciting position in a cross-disciplinary environment with high professionalism
  • a workplace with focus on collaboration, well-being and sparring
  • engaged colleagues who are passionate about making a difference for the young people

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms in accordance with applicable collective agreement and within the framework of local wage formation.

The position is full-time, and working hours are generally between 8:00 and 16:00. The annual standard for full-time staff applies from August 1 to July 31. This means that one primarily works within 40 school weeks, plus a number of pedagogical, preparation and meeting days as agreed in connection with the school year's planning. The students are present from 8:20 to 13:30 on 200 school days per year.

The activities are distributed so that the occupational therapist daily has teaching- and education-related tasks primarily in the time frame 8:00-14:00 on 200 school days. In addition, there will be a limited number of student/parent events in the afternoons and evenings during a school year. In the team there will be meeting activities as well as meetings on the school plan. There will be a number of hours for preparation. There is a three-month probationary period for employment in the City of Copenhagen.
