Nurse sought for Acute Cardiology at Frederikssund Hospital

Cardiological ward B1B2 is part of the cardiology department at North Zealand Hospital, located at Frederikssund Hospital. We provide basic and specialized nursing care for patients with cardiovascular diseases. The ward comprises 20 beds - all with monitoring capability.

Since one of our colleagues is going on maternity leave, we are seeking a nurse who wants to work with the cardiology patient - and who is challenged by both the acute and the more traditional cardiology pathways. As a nurse on the cardiology ward B1B2, there is the opportunity to work in both the inpatient ward and in our cardiology unit in the emergency department at Hillerød Hospital.

Acute cardiology in the chest pain clinic

As an advanced unit in the shared emergency department at Hillerød Hospital, our chest pain clinic consists of 10 beds where nurses and cardiology specialists collaborate in reception, care and treatment of the acute cardiology patient and fast-track pathways for ACS patients.

The setup is a completely unique opportunity to test skills in cardiology-specific workflows in the emergency department. The group of nurses covering the chest pain clinic consists of nurses from the cardiology wards at both Hillerød and Frederikssund hospitals.

As a nurse on the cardiology ward B1B2, you will be offered shifts in the chest pain clinic and in our acute cardiology ward, in a rotation agreed with the head nurse.

About the department

• We are 30 nurses, 10 social and health care assistants and 1 SSH - who together form an engaged and positive staff group, where professionalism and camaraderie are at the forefront.
• We have a patientwise large variation in disease complexity, length of stay and age distribution and provide care for patients within a broad disease category: Acute Coronary Syndrome, including patients with pulmonary edema, before and after subacute CAG/PCI as well as pre- and postoperative CABG
• Complex cardiology disorders, including aortic dissection, pericarditis as well as patients with other valve diseases
• Heart failure, including both patients with acute heart failure and patients in chronic heart failure courses
• Arrhythmias, including patients for medical rate control and acute DC conversion as well as patients for pacemaker implantation
• We have nurse outpatient functions within the areas: heart failure and cardiac rehabilitation. Both outpatient clinics are staffed with nurses from the department.

The staff group

The staff group is characterized by high competence and seniority – a large part of the staff have been employed for more than 10 years, some over 25 years, which means there are always experienced colleagues on duty.

We place a high value on humor, good atmosphere and taking care of each other. This includes staff events in spare time, organized by our social committee. We can also highlight that as a workplace we have a long-standing solid collaboration with our cross-disciplinary partners across the hospital, which provides short command chains, as everyone knows each other.

Education and development - We offer

• Mentor program where you are assigned a personal mentor for a minimum of one year after employment
• For newly educated we offer after about 1 year of employment the Region's basic cardiology education
• After 3 years of employment in the department the Region's cardiology postgraduate education is offered
• Opportunity to work with both acute and outpatient functions

In the department we have two nurses with special responsibilities who oversee the development and implementation of our patient pathways.

We have a well-established 4-week introductory program, which is planned based on your competencies together with our introductory nurse, including introduction to evening and night shifts.

The new hospital

As a nurse on B1B2 you will have the opportunity to be part of a journey where in 2028 the two hospitals in North Zealand are merged into a new modern acute hospital, located as an integrated part of the business and housing area Favrholm at Overdrevsvejen south of Hillerød town.

The new hospital will house about 20 clinical functions and will serve more than 325,000 residents who previously were spread across hospitals in Hillerød, Helsingør and Frederikssund.

Employment terms

Positions are to be filled on 1/12 or by agreement. Full-time hours by agreement.

Weekend work is in rotation; every 2nd, every 2nd, every 4th weekend; every 2nd weekend (if preferred) or every 3rd weekend. This results in an average weekend rotation equivalent to about every 3rd weekend. There is the possibility of a fixed day shift/night shift rotation, otherwise working a mix of day, evening and night shifts. Approximately 6-7 shifts in 4 weeks are targeted.

Salary and employment terms follow the collective agreement for non-managerial staff in the Health Cartel area, concluded between the Health Cartel parties, including the Danish Nurses Organization and the Regions’ Pay and Tariff Board.
