About the job

Would you like to be part of an emergency department where professionalism, teamwork and job satisfaction go hand in hand?

In the Emergency Department at Bornholm Hospital we are seeking nurses with Danish authorization for both a permanent position and a maternity leave cover.

With us you will become part of a ward where we take our patients very seriously, but fortunately not always ourselves. We are proud of the culture we have built together over many years. A culture characterized by high professionalism, helpfulness, integrity and a strong collegial sense of community.

Many of our employees choose to stay with us for many years, and we see this as a sign that we succeed in creating a workplace where you can develop professionally and thrive as a person.

Whether you already have your life on Bornholm or dream of creating it here, we can offer an exciting daily life, skilled colleagues and the opportunity to make a real difference for patients and relatives.

Why choose the Emergency Department?

There are many reasons why our employees stay with us. Some highlight the high professional level, others the strong sense of community or the wide variety in the work. Common to all of us is the experience of a workplace where you are seen, heard and helped.

Among other things you get with us

  • A workplace with high well-being and low staff turnover
  • Experienced and engaged colleagues with broad professional expertise
  • Thorough introduction tailored to your competences and experience
  • Mentoring scheme and close follow-up in your first period
  • A working environment characterized by psychological safety, where questions and sparring are always welcome
  • Regular defusing meetings after each shift and debriefing after particularly challenging events
  • Close management and short decision paths
  • Good opportunities for professional development and competence development within acute nursing

We are a ward with both experienced staff and new colleagues who together create a strong learning environment. Here we help each other in daily life and gladly share our knowledge and experience.

More than half of the department’s nurses are trained treatment nurses who independently assess, treat and conclude patient pathways in the emergency department. This reflects both our professional level and our many years focus on competence development.

A daily life with great professional variation

The Emergency Department handles the emergency department function for all of Bornholm and receives acute patients within both medical and surgical specialties as well as children.

In addition, we still provide acute care to psychiatric patients at night and support the local 1813 function.

As a nurse with us you will therefore meet an unusually broad patient base. Everyday life is varied, exciting and sometimes unpredictable, and no shifts are exactly alike.

We meet people at some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives. It obliges. Therefore we work every day to create safe, dignified and efficient patient pathways, where both patients and relatives feel seen, heard and taken seriously.

Professional and personal development

Acute nursing requires both clinical insight, professional knowledge, good communication skills and the ability to keep an overview when situations become complex.

Therefore we actively invest in the development of our employees.

We offer, among other things

  • A systematic introduction tailored to your experience
  • Mentoring with planned follow-up conversations
  • Companion days with experienced nurses and specialty-responsible colleagues
  • Ongoing professional sparring in daily life
  • A strong interdisciplinary learning environment

Experience from an emergency department is an advantage, but not a requirement. The most important for us is that you want to work with acute patient pathways and are curious to develop within the specialty.

We have great experience in introducing new colleagues to acute nursing and will help you along the way.

At the same time we expect that the specialty training in acute nursing will in the future become a natural part of the development opportunities in the department.

We imagine that you

  • Are a trained nurse with Danish authorization (positions are not evaluation positions)
  • Have an interest in acute patient pathways
  • Can maintain calm and overview in busy and changing situations
  • Thrive with many short patient contacts
  • Have good collaboration and communication skills
  • Meet patients, relatives and colleagues with respect and presence
  • Are flexible and adaptable
  • Are curious about learning and professional development
  • Wish to contribute to the education of students and the continued development of the department

We are looking for colleagues who want to be part of the community and contribute to the culture that makes the Emergency Department a good place to work. Colleagues who have both a focus on the patients and on the collaboration that makes everyday life succeed.

Would you like to be a part of it?

Whether you are an experienced emergency nurse or curious about the specialty, we would love to hear from you.

With us you will have the opportunity to develop professionally, become part of a strong collegial community and help create safe patient pathways for Bornholm's residents and guests.
