Nurse responsible for general care

About the job

You never stop learning. Fortunately.

There is something special about being a nurse in the Emergency Department.

You rarely know what the day will bring. You meet people in vulnerable situations and must be able to think quickly, act safely and remain calm under pressure.

And just when you think you have seen it all, you encounter something new.

That is exactly what we love about our specialty. We never stop learning, and we never become so skilled that we don't need each other.

Therefore, we are not only looking for skilled nurses. We are looking for colleagues who want to make us even more skilled.

Specialists in being generalists

In the Emergency Department at Regionshospitalet Hjørring we see patients across the hospital's specialties. We handle the majority of the hospital's acute admissions and acute outpatient pathways, and receive both medical and orthopedic-trauma patients.

We work with both somatic and psychiatric issues, provide the emergency department function, collaborate with the on-call doctor and have an observation unit with stays of up to 24 hours. In addition, we are responsible for the hospital's flow coordination.

It requires broad professional knowledge, clinical judgment, overview and collaboration.

We call ourselves specialists in being generalists . And we are proud of it.

We have high expectations. Also of ourselves.

With us, we expect you to take professional responsibility, be curious and want to develop both yourself and the department you become part of.

The healthcare system is changing, and it requires us to dare to think differently. Therefore we continuously work to develop our nursing, workflows, collaboration and work environment.

We believe that the best solutions are created together with those who know everyday life. Therefore you don't need to come from an emergency department, but you must be eager to learn. We provide thorough introduction and structured onboarding based on your competencies.

We won't just keep up with development. We want to help shape it.

We take our work seriously. But not always ourselves.

Acute/emergency nursing is both meaningful and demanding. We work with high complexity, difficult decisions and people in crisis.

Therefore we prioritize professional sparring, debriefing and competence development including deeskalation. We believe in a work environment where we talk openly about the difficult things and help each other when the pressure rises.

But there should also be room for laughter, offbeat remarks and the joy of going to work.

We take patients and professionalism very seriously. And ourselves a little less so.

We think you will thrive with us if you

  • Have clinical experience and a desire for professional challenges.
  • Can maintain an overview and prioritize when the pace increases.
  • Take responsibility for your patients, your professionalism and the community.
  • Thrive with multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Are curious, think in new solutions and want to contribute to the department's development.

You don't have to know it all from the start. But you must be eager to learn and make a difference.

What can you expect from us?

  • Thorough introduction and structured onboarding.
  • A strong collegial community and daily professional sparring.
  • Competence development and opportunity for further education, including the specialized program in emergency nursing and the training as a treatment nurse.
  • Opportunity to influence the department's development.
  • Flexible scheduling with regard to your wishes and your life situation.

Working hours and shift structure

We offer day/evening shifts or day/night shifts with about 12 inconvenient shifts in a 6-week cycle. Weekend shifts are arranged individually, typically every 2nd, 3rd, or 4th weekend in 8- or 12-hour shifts.

Perhaps it is us you are looking for?

If you thrive with professional challenges, responsibility and colleagues who can challenge you and laugh with you – and if you want to help develop the department you become part of – we would love to hear from you.
