About the job

Imagine you bang the drum and invite the children to join in a rhythmic play. Silken scarves float through the air, and maraca eggs create rhythm for communal singing. Through rhythm and music you create communities across languages, ages and cultures. Can you see yourself in the rhythmic? Then maybe it's you we are missing.

We are seeking an educator for our day-care with a special rhythmic and musical profile in Copenhagen's Sydhavn.

Welcome to Children's Rhythm House

We are a smaller day-care with three baby groups and two kindergarten groups in Copenhagen's Sydhavn. With us rhythm and music are the central point of our pedagogical profile and our ambition to create strong, diverse children's communities, where all children feel they belong and are a meaningful part of the community.

We are in the final phase of our certification through Rhythm House, where all employees have completed a shared rhythmic education program. As our new educator you will receive a tailored training and booster program so you have the same theoretical and practical foundation as your colleagues.

We hope you have knowledge of rhythmics and music, but the most important is your curiosity and willingness to learn. With us you are never alone. You will become part of a working community where we look forward to welcoming you, learning from your perspectives, sharing our experiences and developing pedagogical practice together.

We believe presence requires clear frameworks

We know that the best moments with the children arise when we slow down and make room for deep concentration. Therefore we actively work to develop even stronger structures and organize everyday life in smaller child groups, so there is time for presence and secure relationships.

Our pedagogical approach is based on attachment theory and low arousal. We are particularly concerned with how our facial expressions, mirroring the children's feelings and emotional presence create security.

Our view of children is based on a fundamental understanding that children always do the best they can. Therefore it is our responsibility as adults to be investigative and curious about the children's perspectives and adjust the learning environment so all children get the best opportunities to thrive and participate in the community.

We develop our pedagogical practice together

For us professional reflection and evaluation are an important part of daily life. We maintain a shared evaluation culture, where we dare to be analytical and curious about our own practice, ask questions about what we do, and use our data and shared experiences to create even better learning environments for the children.

To create time and space for professional deepening we have organized our pedagogical preparation time around four themes:

  • Early intervention and parent collaboration

We systematically work with early observable signs of well-being in all children. The signs are developed in collaboration with our cross-disciplinary support and form the basis for joint professional analysis, early intervention and parent collaboration.

  • Structure meetings

We develop and adjust our structure boards, organization and division of roles to create clear frameworks, recognizability and better opportunities for presence in smaller child groups.

  • Pedagogical activities and evaluation

We plan, implement and evaluate monthly activities across Children's Rhythm House, where rhythmics and music are central to strengthen the children's communities.

  • Collegial feedback

We give each other professional sparring and explore together how our interaction, communication and actions affect the children's well-being.

We work with common analysis methods across the institution and have close collaboration with our cross-disciplinary support. We see our cross-disciplinary partners as a natural and meaningful part of our professional community, where we together investigate, reflect and find ways to strengthen the children's well-being and development together with the parents.

We can offer you

  • a children's house with a special rhythmic and musical profile, where you get the opportunity to bring your interests, ideas and competences into play
  • a tailored training program in rhythmics and a shared professional foundation
  • a workplace in development, where you get a real opportunity to influence our pedagogical direction and help create even stronger structures
  • a fixed structure for preparation time, professional reflection, evaluation and collegial feedback
  • engaged parents who back our rhythmic profile – We protect parent collaboration and strive to ensure that all families experience it as safe to come to us – both with joys or questions
  • a working community where we help each other, share knowledge and remember to give a pat on the back when a colleague creates star moments

We want a pedagogue who

  • has interest in – and would very much like experience with – rhythmics and music and wants to use it to create strong, diverse children's communities
  • believes that children always do the best they can, and is curious about how the learning environment can be adapted to the children's needs
  • knows that presence requires time, and sees clear structure and recognizability as important prerequisites for secure relationships
  • wants to contribute to our evaluation culture, where we investigate our own practice and develop together
  • sees diversity as a strength and values and prioritizes a close, trusting parent collaboration

Do you want to be part of the rhythm?

We are a developing children's house with high ambitions for pedagogical quality and believe we succeed best when we stand strong together.

We hope you want to put your mark on Children's Rhythm House and help create strong, diverse children's communities through rhythmics and music.
