About the job

Would you like to work with national security, crisis management and societal resilience? Would you like to help strengthen municipalities' emergency preparedness and contribute to the development of the future Danish total preparedness? Do you have solid experience from the emergency sector and a desire to work at the intersection of policy, advocacy and implementation? Then it might be you we are looking for for an exciting position in KL’s Unit for Societal Security.

Denmark today faces the most serious and complex risk and threat picture since World War II. It is the municipalities that stand on the front line when crises strike. Therefore it is crucial that the municipal emergency services are as prepared as possible to prevent and handle the diverse incidents and crises that may arise. We need your help to lift that work.

Your everyday life at KL

As an advisor in KL’s Unit for Societal Security you will play a central role in supporting the municipalities and developing the municipal emergency preparedness effort. You will work closely with municipalities, government authorities, other emergency actors and other relevant partners.

You will become part of a unit consisting of seven dedicated employees, who together work purposefully to support the municipalities and the municipal emergency services and ensure that they have the best possible framework to succeed with their tasks.

Your primary tasks will include, among other things, to

  • Advise the municipalities and provide professional input to their emergency preparedness work
  • Contribute to the development of the framework for a coming total preparedness
  • Conduct risk and vulnerability analyses and provide advice based on them
  • Assist with professional knowledge and input to KL’s advocacy on emergency preparedness
  • Prepare recommendations, guidance and professional briefing papers for the municipalities’ emergency preparedness work
  • Plan and conduct exercises in collaboration with municipalities and other actors
  • Plan and implement theme days, courses and educational activities targeted at municipalities.

You should be prepared for a certain amount of travel activity in connection with meetings, networks and events around the country.

About you

There can be many entry points to the position, but we imagine that you

  • Have solid theoretical and operational knowledge of the emergency preparedness field – preferably with practical or operational background, e.g. from the defence
  • Have insight into the conditions of municipalities and their role in the overall Danish emergency preparedness
  • Have experience with – or good understanding of – collaboration with political organizations and decision-making processes
  • Have a strong and relevant network within the emergency preparedness field
  • Have good communication skills and thrive in teaching as well as facilitating processes
  • Work in a structured, analytical and independent manner, but also thrive in close collaboration with others

We offer you
