About the job

Will you help develop the interior design in the City of Copenhagen?

Do you want to work with interior design that has direct impact on thousands of citizens' meeting with the public – and on employees' daily working environment?

And do you have the courage to translate analyses, needs and operational requirements into concrete spatial solutions?

So maybe you are the one we are looking for as a designer or architect in the City of Copenhagen, Employment, Integration and Business Administration.

Create frameworks that work in practice

We work on developing and adapting the physical framework in the administration's buildings – especially in Copenhagen's job center. Here the interior should support business meetings, collaboration with external actors, teaching, conversations with very different citizens and administrative workflows.

A central part of the role is to analyze and optimize office landscapes and citizen-facing areas and contribute to defining new design principles that underpin a greater degree of variation and aesthetics. It is also about arranging workplaces and common areas, good flows and choosing materials and solutions that can withstand intensive use while contributing to a professional and welcoming environment where more people feel met.

You will work with

  • space planning from needs assessment and data analysis to implementation
  • optimization and layout of existing areas
  • preparation of interior design proposals and drawings in all project phases
  • to contribute to development and updating of design principles for larger office environments and meeting areas
  • facilitation of user processes with focus on concrete operational needs
  • requirements specification and dialogue with external consultants and suppliers
  • assessment of materials with focus on durability, maintenance and CO₂ reduction
  • upcycling of existing furniture and incorporation of sustainable materials

Tasks range from small adjustments to larger development projects. You must be able to work independently and ensure that the solutions are functional, operationally robust and aesthetically coherent.

Interior design as part of a larger transformation

From 2026 a new reform in the employment area will be implemented, which entails greater freedom, changed workflows and new needs in the physical framework. This means that we will continuously adapt and develop our interior design so that it strategically and practically supports the organization's direction.

We work with universal design principles and with a focus on how spaces affect behavior, well-being and collaboration. In recent years we have worked with involvement of art, created a cozy cafe for young people and established gardens in connection with the buildings. The goal is to create inclusive and well-functioning environments where both citizens and employees experience quality, coherence, less stress and more security.

Who are you?

We imagine that you

  • have a relevant education in architecture or design
  • are skilled at using relevant tools e.g. AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite or similar.
  • have experience with space planning and interior design of high-usage environments
  • have knowledge of materials, sustainability and maintenance
  • can translate analyses and needs into concrete, realizable solutions and drawings
  • can order and communicate with external suppliers
  • can work independently and can navigate requirements for both design, economy and operations

About us

You will become part of the Property Division, which consists of 12 employees with competencies in property development, operation, occupational safety and interior design. We work closely with both the many internal users and external partners.

Salary and employment terms

Salary and terms of employment according to applicable collective agreement and within the framework of local pay formation.

The position is a permanent appointment and as a rule at least 30 hours per week.

We would like to hire as soon as possible.

We look forward to hearing from you.
