About the job
Perhaps it's you we're looking for.
Department of Ophthalmology, Sønderjylland Hospital in Sønderborg is looking for a medical secretary/health administrative coordinator for 37 hours.
We are a department in development, both in terms of patient volume and treatment offers, but also regarding workflows, competencies and the way we use IT. We are curious about what technology can do for us, and how we can use it to create better and smarter workflows – without forgetting the most important: the people and the good patient journey .
Therefore we are looking for you who want to join the journey.
Who are we?
The Department of Ophthalmology is a well-functioning department with over 50 employees and a high professional commitment. We see around 200 outpatient patients through the department in a day, so there are rarely two days that are exactly alike.
You will become part of a medical secretary group of 9 dedicated colleagues, who both know their craft and each other. We help each other, brainstorm and laugh.
In short: There is room for both professionalism, humor and a good laugh in everyday life.
We work closely across disciplines and have a shared focus on creating good patient journeys. We believe the best solutions come when we bring different competencies into play.
In the Department of Ophthalmology we work based on the values
Trust · Respect · Inclusiveness
You will not only be part of the operation – you will be part of the development. With us you will have the opportunity to make your mark.
We work purposefully to develop our IT competencies and the possibilities in the digital solutions we already have – and those that will come.
Maybe you are the type who often thinks: “Couldn’t we do this a bit smarter?” If yes, we would very much like to hear from you.
We would like colleagues who are curious, who dare to question habits, and who want to help find new solutions. You will have the opportunity to contribute with ideas, test new workflows and help shape the future of health administrative tasks.
We believe development is best when it happens together with those who handle the tasks in daily life.
What will you do?
You will become an important part of the medical secretary group and will among other things work with:
- Booking and coordination of outpatient patient pathways
- Reception and the warm welcome of patients, relatives and collaborators
- Internal and external telephone handling
- Referral and coordination
- Registration and coding of activity, including pathway markers
- Correspondence between patients, doctors, nurses and other collaborators
- Opportunity to take on own areas of responsibility and specialty areas – preferably in something you are particularly passionate about
We work in five diagnosis-specific teams: AMD, oculoplastics, cataract, surgical retina and outpatient clinic. As a medical secretary you will be attached to one of the ambulatory teams, where you will have the opportunity to bring your own competencies into play.
We hope you can recognize yourself in some of this
You are a trained medical secretary or health administrative coordinator, and you
- Work independently and can prioritize when tasks come a bit faster than you had planned
- Are curious about IT and want to develop your digital skills
- Want to explore what IT can do for our workflows – and perhaps already have ideas in mind
- Have good knowledge of EPJ SYD and preferably experience with booking
- Are quality-conscious and know that correct documentation and registration are important
- Have an eye for the good patient journey – even when it requires cross-team coordination
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment and can handle interruptions
- Are flexible and see opportunities rather than limitations
- Can work independently, but also know when it is smart to ask a colleague
- Have good collaboration skills and a desire to be an active part of several teams (mono- and multidisciplinary)
- Take responsibility and have the courage to contribute ideas
- Have a desire to learn and try new things
- Contribute to a good working environment and value humor and a relaxed, informal tone
- Are reliable and take responsibility for your tasks
- Know that you do not have to solve everything alone
You do not need to know everything from day one.
We emphasize your competencies, your curiosity and your desire to learn. The rest we will figure out together.
What do you get with us?
- A department in development where you have the opportunity to bring your own ideas into play
- Opportunity to help develop our IT competencies and workflows
- A workplace where you can put your own professional stamp
- A strong mono- and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Dedicated, helpful and experienced colleagues
- A good and structured onboarding tailored to your qualifications and experience
- Opportunity for specialist tasks within areas you are passionate about
- Focus on competence development
- A department where humor and a good tone are a natural part of everyday life
Working hours
Your working hours will generally lie between 7:45 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and we expect that you have at least one weekly day until 4:00 p.m.
There will sometimes be afternoon shifts (Tuesdays) until 6:00 p.m. a few times a year. These are allocated as far as possible on a voluntary basis.
You will have influence over your own working hours, participate in a flex scheme and take part in vacation accrual.
Shall we be colleagues?
If you can see yourself in a department where there is room for professionalism, development, IT curiosity, responsibility, collaboration and humor, then we hope you want to apply.
We look forward to hearing from you.
