About the job

Do you want to make a difference every time the phone rings?

At the Acute Phone 1813, no day is the same. Each call requires professionalism, overview and empathy – and that is why we are looking for experienced nurses who want to use their clinical skills in a new way.

With us you get meaningful work with high professionalism, great flexibility, attractive salaries and employment terms, and not least some of the best colleagues you could wish for.

Who are we?

Acute Phone 1813 is the Capital Region’s entry point for acute health advisory and triage. We help citizens with sudden illness outside of their own GP’s opening hours and in case of acute injuries – around the clock, year-round.

Every year we answer almost 900,000 calls , where we advise and triage citizens to self-care, their own GP or urgent treatment.

We are a department with about 75 nurses, 140 doctors, 10 on-call managers and a number of administrative functions that include shift planning, quality team, section leaders and two department heads. Together we create a workplace with high professionalism, good humor and room for diversity.

We know that a good work life also needs to fit with family life. Therefore we prioritise flexibility, well-being and a strong collegial community.

Who are you?

Health professional telephone triage is a specialised task. Therefore it is important that you are a licensed nurse with solid clinical experience and thrive on making quick, well-considered decisions.

We imagine that you

  • Have broad experience with complex nursing care.
  • Work in a structured and independent manner.
  • Can communicate, document and navigate in multiple IT systems simultaneously.
  • Convey clearly and professionally in both Danish and English.

Your experience as a nurse may come from the acute area, general practice, paediatrics, acute receiving, emergency department, ambulatory care in relevant specialties. You may also have other relevant experience from a hospital department and/or municipal health service.

With us you should want to

  • work at odd times of the day
  • participate in mixed shifts in two-team rotation with weekend on-call every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) or every weekend if you wish.
  • contribute on three holidays around Christmas/New Year and three holidays in the spring
  • work full-time or part-time.

We are open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We have the highest activity when general practitioners are closed. Therefore many shifts are in the evening, night and weekends – exactly when citizens need us the most. Shifts may be at odd hours, as we also plan shifts based on when we expect the most calls from citizens. A shift may therefore be in the time period 18:00–02:00 or 06:00–14:00.

We offer you

At Acute Phone 1813 you will become part of a strong professional environment where your development and well-being are in focus.

You will receive among other things

  • present leadership with a focus on well-being and development
  • ongoing coaching and training in communication techniques
  • 15 professional minutes and regular teaching
  • possibility for defusing with on-call manager or internal psychologist
  • dialogue-based staff meetings
  • uninterrupted mealtimes and extra breaks for fresh air, calm or movement
  • opportunity to influence your own shift schedule
  • good coffee, tea and fruit arrangements
  • access to a massage chair, training room and free parking.
  • potentially in the future the possibility of home office after qualification, currently up to 40% of shifts.

Thorough introduction

You will be thoroughly introduced to our conversation concept and the IT tools we have available when we speak with each citizen. In this way we ensure that you cover the health-related issue and correctly triage the citizen further.

Your introduction program includes among other things

  • instruction and practical exercises
  • shadowing an experienced colleague
  • training in telephone triage
  • mentor scheme – also after the introduction period
  • follow-up conversations with the manager and clinical nursing specialist.

Salary and employment
