About the job

We always have ambitions to become an even stronger disability team in the specialized child and family area, and we need another skilled social worker on the journey, as one of our capable colleagues goes on maternity leave. This is a permanent position.

Are you passionate about social work with brains and heart, and would you, through dialogue and inclusion, help ensure the development, health and well-being of children and youths? Do you want to become part of a prioritized area and an engaged department that always works purposefully to develop and improve the specialized child disability area? Then a whole group of skilled colleagues are ready to welcome you.

About us

We are a dynamic municipality that believes strong communities create well-being together with citizens. In Nyborg Municipality we celebrate communities, ambitions, visions and courage.

We believe in the necessity of close cooperation with the municipality’s other departments, so that we can jointly find the best solutions in collaboration with the families we are in contact with.

In the Child Disability Team we work with children aged 0-23 years. We provide advice and guidance to families with children, youth and their families, who have a significant and permanent reduced physical or mental function. We work according to the legislation in the Child Act (Barnets Lov) as well as certain provisions in the Service Act (Serviceloven), including compensation and loss of earning capacity, etc.

We prepare target group assessments in the form of Child Disability Assessments, child-related investigations, child and weekly plans, initiation and follow-up of support measures pursuant to the Child Act.

The Disability Team also handles sibling cases where it makes most sense for the child/family and otherwise in close cooperation with the advisor in the Child Team.

You will naturally use your social work background, but also your ability to meet and accommodate the specific family, the individual child and the situation they are in. When families come to us, they are often in grief or crisis, and there is a great need for empathy, situational understanding and professionalism in the meeting. We meet the child and families with professional curiosity about what we can offer and we proactively think in terms of solutions and possibilities.

Your tasks will include

  • Screening of applications and notifications regarding children with disabilities and in some cases their siblings.
  • Assessing the child’s support needs.
  • Processing applications for disability compensation benefits.
  • Ensuring legality in the cases on your caseload and in the decisions you make.
  • Involvement of children, youths and their families.
  • Providing advice and guidance to families who have children with disabilities.
  • Participating in network, status and follow-up meetings.
  • Supporting families in developing competencies in relation to their child’s special needs.
  • Carrying out ongoing and timely follow-ups.
  • Ensuring close and equal collaboration with the executor, partners and colleagues.
  • Interdisciplinary cooperation with the municipality’s other departments.

We expect that

  • You are a trained social worker with several years of experience.
  • You have solid experience with authority work and with children who have reduced functioning levels as well as their families.
  • You are a facilitator of an inclusive and acknowledging view of people and are mindful of your own communication.
  • You can work independently and have a systematic and structured approach to working with children, families and collaborators.
  • You can use legal rules, guidelines, chief opinions and practice studies in your work and you take co-responsibility for a high level of professionalism in the team and the department.
  • You thrive in interdisciplinary cooperation and are a guarantor of a proactive approach to network-involving meetings and methods.
  • You have drive, are open and approachable.
  • You are prepared to engage in interdisciplinary collaborative relationships in a changing everyday life.
  • You can handle IT as a natural and necessary part of the work. The professional system is DUBU.
  • You have a driving license, so you can visit families and meetings with partners (cars are provided).

We offer

  • Professionally competent and skilled colleagues with a social work background.

The Disability Team consists of 6 social workers with many years of experience in the field, an occupational therapist who handles devices for children, and another occupational therapist who handles cases concerning disability cars.

In addition, there is a Professional Coordinator attached to the team.

  • Opportunity for professional and personal development and influence on the organization’s development.
  • Lots of good collegiality, job satisfaction and humor.
  • Extensive interdisciplinary sparring in everyday life.
  • Focus on ensuring a coherent and continuous effort for children.
  • Attractive employment terms and flexible working hours, including flexible scheduling on Fridays.
  • Ongoing courses and skills development.
  • Professional supervision by an external supervisor.
  • A caseload that lies within the range recommended by the Danish Association of Social Workers at about 25 cases per social worker.
