Cross-departmental head of department for the elderly care area in Favrskov Municipality

Some leadership positions have a fixed address and a well-defined task. This one has the entire older persons' area as its field of work. As a cross-cutting department head you will be a management and development resource that can be put to use where the need and the opportunity to make a difference are greatest. For one period you can lead a department that temporarily lacks a leader; the next you can support leadership through a demanding change, give a new leadership colleague a good start or help an organization turn decisions into practice.

This is the opportunity for a unique leadership role for you who thrive with movement, can play on many strings and quickly sense what a situation calls for. You must be able to take clear responsibility when leadership is needed here and now, and step to one side when your most important task is to strengthen another leader. Common to the tasks is that you create calm, direction and forward motion.

The position is created because we take leadership seriously – also when a gap arises. With a cross-cutting department head we will ensure presence and continuity and give new leaders a good start.

About the role and your tasks

The function is new and time-limited to three years. You report to the head of Quality and Education and work closely with the senior manager, the area management group and the local leaderships. Although you often have to be able to enter different contexts independently, you are not alone. You will have ongoing sparring with the head of Quality and Education, who is your fixed leadership anchor along the way.

The tasks are prioritized across the older area, and for each intervention a clear purpose, mandate and decision space are agreed. You should not only solve the current task, but also see what can be used elsewhere so experiences, good practices and new connections become improvements across the organization.

When you step in as temporary leader, you are given a mandate to lead daily operations, prioritize resources, follow up on employees and staffing and hold on to the processes that are already in place. In other processes you work closely with the local leader as a sparring partner, mentor or extra leadership power. The role can also be brought into play when a department is facing major changes, needs to find a common course or needs to translate decisions into a daily life that works for employees and citizens.

We expect that you

• have solid municipal leadership experience and can step in with clarity and credibility in different organizational situations
• have strong organizational judgment and quickly can build trust, overview and direction
• can navigate role-consciously between being temporary leader, leadership support, mentor, sparring partner and bridge-builder
• have experience with personnel management, operations, recruitment, rostering and organizational changes, preferably from the elderly or health sector
• communicate clearly, build strong relationships and create followership
• can prioritize and act in a timely manner – even when the situation is complex or requires significant changes
• work in a structured way and can translate experiences from concrete tasks into learning and improvements across

Salary and employment terms

The position is covered by salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement for your professional area and the local agreement for leaders in the elderly area in Favrskov Municipality.

It is a time-limited full-time position for three years with work locations across the elderly area in Favrskov Municipality. You report organizationally to the head of Quality and Education, regardless of which role you fulfil.
