We are seeking a passionate person and folk high school soul who is enthusiastic about young people, community, education and musical theatre – and who wants to help set the direction for Højskolen Snoghøj's continued development.

Højskolen Snoghøj is a classic, Grundtvigian folk high school with a clear professional profile in acting, singing and dancing. We are a folk high school where students should develop both academically and personally, and where there is room to dream big, try things out and find the courage to take the stage – whether the goal is a professional career or a life with the performing arts as a passion.

We stand on a strong foundation, but we want to go further. Therefore we are looking for a person who can both preserve the best of Snoghøj and help create the next Snoghøj. And a passionate person who wants to make Snoghøj even more visible – in Fredericia, in the folk high school world and in the Danish performing arts scene.

Being a principal at Højskolen Snoghøj is not a traditional 8-4 job. Folk high school life unfolds across day and evening, and the position therefore requires commitment, presence and flexibility. You must be eager to be a visible part of the folk high school's life and community, also when activities take place outside normal working hours.

A folk high school with musical theatre in its blood, outdoor life and creative subjects

Højskolen Snoghøj is located in Fredericia – a town with a strong tradition for musical theatre and performing arts. It gives us a very special opportunity to be part of a living cultural environment and to create even stronger connections between the folk high school, the town and the many players involved.

As principal you should have the desire to develop and strengthen this position.

You should be able to see opportunities in creating new collaborations with local and national actors, develop the school's academic profile and help make Snoghøj even more visible as a place where students can develop their talent, creativity and personal courage.

We are seeking a principal who...

• is a clear, engaged and approachable leader – who can also delegate tasks
• has experience from – and preferably a good knowledge of – the folk high school world
• is passionate about education, lifelong learning, community and the development of young people
• has a professional background or education that matches the school's profile and can inspire as an educational leader for the school's teachers and staff
• has an eye for development and dares to think new ideas without losing the folk high school's values and traditions
• can create and develop external collaborations and partnerships
• understands the importance of marketing, communication and visibility in attracting students
• has an overview of the entire folk high school life – including what happens outside teaching
• can actively work to create homeliness, well-being and community among the students, and ensure that the folk song book is an integrated part of the community
• can foster a culture where all staff and students feel they are an important part of Højskolen Snoghøj.

You should be able to lead everyone, from teachers and students to janitorial staff and kitchen staff. Being a principal at Højskolen Snoghøj is not only about operations, finances and personnel management. It is about being the folk high school's outward face and internal gathering point. You must therefore be able to walk into the classroom, meet the students in everyday life, join when a performance is being rehearsed, when singing or dancing – and at the same time be able to lift your eyes.

Performing arts, outdoor life and creative subjects

Performing arts are a central part of Snoghøj's profile with subjects in acting, singing and dancing.

At the same time, Snoghøj is a general folk high school with room for different interests and communities, and we also work with outdoor life, creative subjects, and philosophical discussion courses. We wish to continue to develop the balance between the classic folk high school and our strong professional specializations.

You will join a folk high school with a strong foundation, dedicated staff, a clear profile and a lot of potential.
