About the job

A one-year introductory position (no. 1309140-60-i-01) in clinical biochemistry with a research content is available for occupation from 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter at the Clinical Biochemical Department, Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital, the workplace is Bispebjerg Hospital. The position is without night shifts with occasional on-call telephone duty during daytime on weekdays (8:00-15:15).

The position can be applied for by younger doctors who have completed the clinical basic medical education for doctors (KBU).

The introduction position includes

  • Research and development

Research and biomedical development are an integrated part of the specialist training in clinical biochemistry. You should therefore be interested in getting an introduction to a research-based specialist training, participating in research and having scientific initiative. During the employment you will have the opportunity, under expert guidance, to design and conduct a defined research project.

There are two professors employed at the department, and the department's main research areas are basic and clinical neurochemistry, circadian rhythm research, and mass spectrometry-based proteome analyses for pathophysiological and diagnostic use within a number of disease groups. You can read more about the department's research here https://www.bispebjerghospital.dk/afdelinger-og-klinikker/klinisk-biokemisk-afdeling/forskning/sider/default.aspx

  • Advice and teaching

During the employment you will be introduced to the clinical biochemistry specialty and acquire specialist knowledge about biochemical analyses and their clinical applicability. Clinical biochemistry has a key function in almost all specialties, and you will advise on rational ordering of biochemical analyses, interpretation of results and selection of special analyses. You will become part of the department's on-call rotation, which covers daytime on weekdays (8:00-15:15). You will also need to participate in teaching of doctors, biomedical scientists and other professional groups at the department.

  • Operational, quality assurance and development tasks

You will be introduced to the department's daily operations and development tasks and during the employment you will be attached to different analysis sections. In collaboration with the responsible consultant and chief biomedical scientist you will take on tasks for the analysis section, e.g. evidence-based expansion of the repertoire of analyses, more efficient patient pathways or quality assurance tasks related to analyses.

  • Influence, collaboration and deepening

You will have influence on planning your own work. We place emphasis on independence and commitment in solving tasks, but also that you can collaborate across disciplines, as many tasks are solved in collaborative teams. There will usually be time for in-depth study so that tasks can be solved on a professionally substantiated basis.

An introduction to clinical biochemistry at Bispebjerg Hospital is thus for you who want a positive, professionally strong, flexible and dynamic work environment with the opportunity to strengthen and further develop the competencies and cross-disciplinary collaboration described above.

Specialist training in clinical biochemistry

The specialist training in clinical biochemistry takes 5 years and consists of an introductory position (12 months) and a main training position (48 months).
