About the job
Do you want to help strengthen Region Zealand's contribution to the future of personalized medicine?
The government and Danish Regions have in Strategy for Personalized Medicine 2025‑2027 set a clear direction: health data and biobanks must be used better to benefit research, innovation and patient care. Region Zealand's Biobank has the task of developing, operating and maintaining the IT system that shall support all regions so that an overview can be created of all samples stored in biobanks. The aim is to create a basis for better transparency in the near future for citizens and patients.
Region Zealand's Biobank is therefore seeking an IT coordinator who initially will be responsible for data collection in the region. The goal is for the position over time to develop into a central role with responsibility for support, documentation, operation and the ongoing development of the system.
The position is particularly relevant for you who have an IT professional background and want to work at the intersection of IT, data, research and the health service.
About us
Region Zealand's Biobank is a 'biobank hotel' that provides all forms of biobank services to support patient care, diagnostics and research. We coordinate and document collection, sample logistics and storage of biological material and ensure full traceability of the samples from the moment the sample is collected until it is handed out.
In Region Zealand's Biobank we use Labware LIMS. The cross-regional solution is built on the same platform and is to create a better overview of biological samples for citizens and researchers.
You will become part of a small, highly competent and engaged team where professionalism, quality and collaboration are at the forefront. We carry out our tasks collectively and contribute with each of our areas of expertise to find the best solutions for our customers. It is precisely the interplay between our competencies that makes us strong as a team. A team you can become part of.
Your tasks
Your primary tasks will be to
- Collect and quality-assure data from the region's biobanks before uploading to the regional system
- Participate in the development and maintenance of the cross-regional IT solution, including testing and implementing new functionalities as well as preparing and maintaining system documentation
- Collaborate with Region Zealand's IT department on operation and technical solutions
- Convey changes and improvements to the system's users and be the first point of contact for colleagues from the other regions regarding the system
You will have regular contact with biobank owners and other partners in connection with solving joint tasks. Therefore expectation alignment and practical problem solving are central parts of the role.
Your profile
We are looking for an IT-strong and collaborative colleague with a background as data computer scientist or another comparable IT education. It is regarded positively if you have experience in working with databases, programming, documentation and operation. We expect that you:
- Work systematically, structured and detail-oriented
- Have a good understanding of data quality and documentation practices
- Are good at communicating and collaborating with different professional groups
- Have experience with programming, databases and SQL
- Have experience with project management and/or system administration
- Have an interest in developing a deep knowledge of our LIMS and, in due course, contribute to the ongoing development of the system.
- Have an interest in health data, biobanks or research infrastructure
Employment terms
The position is 37 hours per week with start as soon as possible. Salary in accordance with applicable collective agreement, as well as NyLøn principles. There is the possibility of homeworking by agreement.
The employment period is until 31-12-2027 with the possibility of entering a permanent position thereafter.
Further information and job profile
If you think you fit the above description and would like to know more about the position, the tasks, future opportunities or other matters, you are welcome to contact the biobank's head Palle Lyngsie Pedersen.
Application
The application deadline is 12 November 2026, and we plan to conduct interviews in week 47. The application must include a motivated cover letter, CV and documentation of relevant education.
Area of employment
Region Zealand and Region Capital will on 1 January 2027 become Region Østdanmark as a result of the health reform. Your area of employment will be Region Østdanmark with all associated organizational units.
Read more about the meaning of the area of employment on Region Østdanmark's website.
Starting salary for employees covered by a collective agreement
The region is obliged to inform you about the starting salary for the position. You will be informed of base salary, centrally fixed allowances and pension under the relevant collective agreement. In addition to the starting salary, the salary may include any negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
