About the job

Leader of an ambitious and well-functioning secretariat at the country's perhaps most beautiful town hall

Are you into teamwork – both as a coach for professionally engaged employees and as a team player in a leadership group? Do you have the ability to create structure and direction for a department while keeping an eye on coherence across? Can you both stay on track and switch gears? Then you now have the opportunity to become the leader in Policy and Development in an ambitious and well-functioning secretariat.

About the job

The Secretariat for Social, Health & Care in Viborg Municipality consists of two departments; Policy and Development and Administration. We need a new leader in Policy and Development.

You will be the nearest manager for 21 skilled and engaged employees. They handle a variety of tasks and development within welfare technology and digitisation, system administration, quality, education as well as coordination of the brain injury area.

Your task includes, among other things, setting frameworks and direction, prioritising resources, challenging and supporting each employee and aligning expectations for tasks with a view to the overall task execution in the Secretariat. This is done in close dialogue with the leadership team in the Secretariat and those for whom we solve tasks.

You will share, together with the secretariat chief and the two department heads, a common responsibility for the management tasks in the Secretariat and will report to the head of Department in Policy and Development.

Your day will include everything from 1:1 conversations with employees, recruitment interviews and preparation of various meetings to expectation alignment with the managers we support and participation in the Secretariat’s budget follow-up meetings.

About you

We expect that you have a relevant university-level education, solid secretariat expertise and preferably management experience.

You are steady in your direction while you are able to navigate a changing everyday life, where we as a matter of course shift gear when tasks call for it. You have experience from a politically governed organisation and preferably from the social, health, care and/or employment areas.

About your competences

  • You are a present and clear personnel leader who contributes to delivering results and maintaining a shared culture and a good working environment.
  • You are a master of structure, and it comes naturally to you to follow up.
  • You can ignite a spark and extinguish a fire.
  • You achieve results through and in collaboration with others.
  • You make others look good and put yourself at stake, without putting yourself in the center.
  • You have strong relational and communicative competencies that are put to use in daily collaboration.
  • You have a good sense of humor.
