About the job

We will establish, as of January 1, 2027, a new position as a social work consultant, whose primary purpose is to support the management team in their task solving. The consultant will handle many of the professional-administrative tasks that today lie with our team leaders. We therefore expect that you have a social worker education, and possibly also a master's degree in social work or similar.

You have in-depth knowledge of the authority work in child and youth cases – particularly with recommendations to the Children and Youth Committee. You have probably gained these experiences from a consultancy or leadership position in the children and family area, which is crucial, as we need a consultant who from the start can help make a difference for the leadership team and the department as a whole.

Many of the tasks that the new consultant will solve require a high level of social work expertise, a good ability to be systematic and have an overview, extensive experience in planning, writing and quality assuring recommendations to the Children and Youth Committee, as well as good written communication and planning skills. You must be able to work independently and collaborate closely with the department’s leadership team. In addition, you must collaborate with the department in general as well as with external parties such as lawyers, DUBU consultants, and the municipality’s AC consultants, among others.

You should thus be able to thrive with a mix of ongoing administrative tasks, operations and development tasks, process facilitation, as well as providing professional sparring to advisers and managers. All within the framework of the Children’s Act.

Concrete tasks and expected level of experience

Our upcoming consultant shall be able to solve the following tasks and possess the following competencies:

  • Have in-depth experience in planning the advisers’ writing process for the preparation of recommendations to the Children and Youth Committee, as well as thoroughly read and quality assure the social work content in the recommendations before submission to the team leader and lawyers, and provide professional sparring to advisers throughout the process.
  • Have experience in responding to/ drafting repayment requests from/to other municipalities.
  • Prepare appeal responses.
  • Carry out the department’s management oversight and provide feedback in the form of professional sparring to advisers and the leadership team. We expect that you already have experience in conducting management oversight in the child and family field and can assess which professional measures should be implemented based on the oversight.
  • Have experience in negotiating contracts with external providers of home-based interventions.
  • Be able to represent the leadership team and the department in various cross-cutting committees and forums – e.g., in relation to assessing special school offers for placed children, or as chair for our council for medicine, psychiatry and the municipality.
  • Carry out various personnel/administrative workflows, such as ensuring vacation coordination, planning supervision, and other administrative tasks from the leadership team.

The team and the department

You will become part of the Cross-cutting Team, where your three colleagues work with different cross-cutting tasks, project management, professional sparring, professional analysis and coordination in each of their specific areas.

The Family and Disability Department consists of the following teams: the Infants and Toddlers Team, 2 Children’s Teams, the Youth Team, the Disability and Underage Team, the Foster Care Specialist, and the Cross-cutting Team. In addition, we have 5 team leaders and a department head to whom the social work consultant reports.

In the Family and Disability Department, we have a strong sense of teamwork characterized by trust, dialogue and job satisfaction, and we are a department with skilled staff and leaders who are willing to go the extra mile for each other and for the task.

You can expect that

  • You will receive a thorough introduction to the consultancy role and the tasks involved here.
  • You will become part of a smaller team and have a very close collaboration with the management team.
  • You will have good colleagues with strong camaraderie, and that we are professionally engaged and enjoy our workplace.
  • You will receive close sparring, support and backing.
  • You will be offered a high degree of freedom with responsibility – e.g., in relation to flexible work planning and home working, so that work life and private life can fit together as long as it is compatible with the core task solving.
  • You will have meaningful work with a high degree of responsibility and influence.
  • You will have an abwechslungsreiche and challenging workday with opportunities for professional and personal development.
  • You will have good opportunities for interdisciplinary and cross-cutting collaborative relationships across sectors.
  • You will have a workplace where professionalism and a good working environment are always at the forefront.
  • Good opportunities to influence the development of the position.

Since the position is newly established, you should expect that you, together with the leadership team, will continuously adjust the content of the position and the distribution of tasks.

In addition, it is expected that you and one of our other social work consultants will eventually be able to cover each other’s tasks, so that both consultants, for example, can perform management oversight, quality assure recommendations to the Children and Youth Committee, facilitate workshops and prepare administrative bases, etc., so that the combined task portfolio of these two positions can be solved by both consultants together.

Values, core task and direction

In the Children and Labour Market Administration, we have a jointly defined core task: “Together we create development, learning and well-being for children, youth and families”.

We also have a common value base; We do it – together!

And in our Children and Family area we work from a guiding narrative that acts as a compass as we, together with our partners, the child, the youth and the families, move towards a more community-oriented children and family area: Read more here.

We work (of course) with a high degree of involvement of the child, the family, the network and not least the professional staff around the child, based on the solution-focused method Signs of Safety and based on Laura Lundy’s participation model. We use ICS (Integrated Children's System) as a social work method, and our IT system is DUBU, which it would be an advantage for you to be familiar with.
