Egely - in short

Egely is Region of Southern Denmark's secured 24-hour institution for young people aged 12 to 17 who are placed on legal or social grounds. We have a total of 20 beds, of which 5 are in the specially secured department. There are about 60 young people enrolled per year. Currently we have 2 open departments with a total of 10 beds.

We are about 80 staff – primarily pedagogical staff in the housing units, but also psychologists, health professionals, social workers, teachers and other professional groups.

The young people we work with often have complex challenges with outwardly directed behavior, crime, substance abuse or psychiatric issues.

Our most important task is to help the young people find calm and stability, so they can build new life strategies and take steps toward a better future.

All children and young people at Egely are offered teaching or day activity in our internal teaching house, and have their daily lives and leisure life in a housing unit with four other children and young people.

The young people are often placed due to complex social, psychiatry-related and behavioral challenges such as outwardly directed or criminal behavior, substance abuse and other comorbidity challenges.
