Consultant/Specialist in Neonatology – H.C. Andersen Children’s and Youth Hospital, OUH

Are you a pediatric specialist with a passion for the tiniest patients? Do you want to be part of a strong neonatal team at one of Denmark's most specialized children's hospitals? Then you are the one we are looking for.

About the position

We are seeking as of January 1, 2027 a specialist for our neonatal team. We are flexible regarding your background – either you already have expertise in neonatology, or we offer you a structured expert training program that will bring you there. We invest in your development.

What do we offer?

A top-class professional environment. HCABU handles Region of Southern Denmark's highly specialized function in neonatology and pediatric surgery as well as the national function for congenital hyperinsulinism. You will become part of a team of 11 neonatologists, and there will always be a trained neonatology expert available while you build your competencies.

Clinical breadth and variety. Your tasks range from ward rounds and outpatient duties to neonatal transports – including highly specialized transports from across the region. In close collaboration with pediatric surgeons, pediatric anesthesiologists, and pediatric gastroenterologists, we treat children with congenital malformations of the gastrointestinal tract for all of Western Denmark and parts of the Region Zealand.

A vibrant research environment. There is significant research output in neonatology, led by a professor in the field. Clinical research is an integral part of daily life.

Stable and meaningful on-call schedule. The shift pattern aims to be 12-shift with a mix of on-site duty or on-call duty depending on competences and needs.

A collegial and interdisciplinary community. We prioritise teamwork and interaction with psychologists, educators, therapists, social workers and nursing staff. In total we are about 420 employees at HCABU.

About you

You are a specialist in pediatrics or anesthesiology, and you thrive with complex clinical problems and a close professional community. You enjoy contributing to teaching and collegial sparring, and you want to make a difference for the most vulnerable newborns and their families.
