About the job

We are seeking a pedagogical assistant with experience with children and young people with special needs.

About Kvisten

Kvisten is part of the respite care offering Skovhusene, which consists of three departments. The children live at home with their families and come to us with overnight stays on one weekday evening per week and one weekend per month.

We have children and young people aged 3 to 18 with varying degrees of developmental disabilities. Most have autism, and many have limited or no spoken language. Therefore we work on reading the children's signals and use among other things PECS, symbol boards and pictograms to create structure and predictability.

Several of the children need help with personal care, including bathing, toilet visits and diaper changes. Here we emphasize meeting each child with respect and care.

About the job

The children come from school around 15:00, and the afternoon and evening offer fixed routines with activities, meals, a bath and bedtime. On weekends we have more time for trips out of the house and good experiences together with the children.

You will be a contact person for a group of children and have responsibility for their pedagogical plans, risk assessments and documentation in our professional system DOMUS. You will collaborate with families, schools, child and youth counselors and other professionals and participate in relevant meetings about the children. We have fixed team meetings where we share experiences and follow up on the children's development and the pedagogical effort. In addition you participate in joint staff meetings across Skovhusene with internal and external training.

About you

You have experience with children and young people with autism, developmental disabilities or similar special needs and are used to working independently and taking responsibility in a daily life where situations can change quickly. You can maintain an overview, even when situations become challenging. You are professionally curious, take initiative and are eager to share your experiences with colleagues.

You can both create calm around a child who needs a quiet moment and come up with activities and trips together with the children. We have among other things a playground, gym hall, cargo bikes and an institutional bus, which provide good opportunities for various experiences. And we hope you bring good humor, drive and a desire to contribute to the community.

What we can offer you?

You will become part of a wonderful group of children with different personalities, needs and plenty of opportunities to create good experiences together. It is a daily life that can be challenging, fun and filled with small moments that make the work meaningful.

We place emphasis on having a workplace where people want to come in and where there is room for different personalities, humor and good ideas. We help each other, share our experiences and stand together when daily life is demanding. With us you get the opportunity to use your experiences and put your mark on the work with the children. We prioritize professional sparring and external supervision together with the team. We also have our own internal training, which is tailored to the target group and gives us concrete tools for the pedagogical work.

Employment terms

The work is done in a rotation, where you primarily work 5:2 and are attached to our Wednesday/Thursday team.

Example of working hours

  • Odd weeks: Wednesday 14:30-23:00 and Thursday 14:30-22:30
  • Even weeks: Wednesday 14:30-21:00, Thursday 6:30-20:30, Friday 14:30-22:00 and Saturday and Sunday either day/evening shifts or 12-hour shifts

In addition you participate in staff meetings about once a month, which take place on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

The position is 37 hours per week and starts on January 1 or February 1, 2027.

Salary and employment terms follow the applicable collective agreement for pedagogical staff and the framework for local pay formation. We will conduct criminal background checks and child protection checks and reference checks before employment.
