Pedagogical assistant trainee for Ærø Municipality

Ærø municipality seeks pedagogical assistant apprentices for appointment to Foundation Course 2 with subsequent start on the main course.

In Ærø Municipality we are seeking 2 pedagogical assistant apprentices with a start on 27 January 2027.

IMPORTANT

Before you apply to be employed as a pedagogical assistant apprentice with a subsequent start on the main program in June 2027, you must have prepared an admission letter at the Social and Health School Funen, which you attach to your application.

You will then be invited to an individual interview with a advisor, after which an education plan and admission letter will be prepared. If you cannot attach the education plan to your application in time, you also have the option to submit it later or bring it to the interview.

The education

As a pedagogical assistant you make a difference for children and young people, or adults who have physical or mental disabilities. Your tasks will include creating engaging activities and carrying out pedagogical interventions that are stimulating and safe for the people you work with. In your work you will therefore work with people of all ages, where you engage in relationships and help create a meaningful everyday life for those you assist.

The education as a pedagogical assistant apprentice generally lasts 2 years and 1.5 months, and will alternate between school and training periods. However, the education can be shorter depending on your background. School periods take place at the Social and Health School in Odense and the training periods will consist of a program in the municipality’s day care services and a program in a special unit within the field of disability and psychiatry.

In the education you will develop your personal and professional competences, and there will be focus on your active participation in your own learning processes. The education is a practical and pedagogically oriented program and has four professional focus areas:

• Nature and outdoor life
• Digital culture
• Movement and sport
• Health in the pedagogical effort

With a pedagogical assistant education you can subsequently work with e.g. children in nurseries and kindergartens, or young people and adults with physical and/or mental disabilities. The education as a pedagogical assistant also provides the possibility to apply for the academy education in youth pedagogy. In addition you can choose to continue to study to become e.g. a pedagogist, teacher or occupational therapist.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between KL and the negotiating organization. A criminal record and a child abuse record must be obtained before employment can take place.

The working hours are 37 hours per week and you will be paid throughout your education – both in training and school periods. You should expect to allocate time for preparation in both school and training.

Adult apprentice salary

If you are over 25 years old and have worked in the field for at least 1 year with at least 24 hours on average per week within the last 4 years, you are eligible for an adult apprentice salary and can apply for this. In addition, employment with between 8 and 24 hours on average per week is counted as 50%.

If you are over 25 years old we ask the job center in your municipality to check whether you are eligible for adult apprenticeship wage.
