Apply for the job now

Would you like to try your hand at real construction and maintenance tasks and gain insight into real buildings, real projects and solutions that have to work in practice.

In the Maintenance Team in Property Services, Randers Municipality, we are looking for a building construction student for an internship in spring 2027.

As an intern you will be part of the daily task solving and will work side by side with our building construction engineers and other colleagues. You will have the opportunity to translate your knowledge from your studies into concrete tasks and, as you get to know our organization and the buildings, you will gradually take on more independent responsibility.

We work with a large and varied portfolio of municipal buildings, including schools, day care centers, nursing homes, sports and cultural buildings as well as administrative properties.

Your tasks

Your tasks depend on the current projects, your professional level and your interests. You may, among other things, come to work with:

  • planning and coordinating maintenance tasks
  • smaller design tasks
  • renovation and conversion projects
  • registration and assessment of existing buildings
  • participation in supervision, construction meetings and project meetings
  • dialogue with tradespeople, contractors, consultants and users
  • tendering and evaluating solutions and prices
  • follow-up on economy, quality and schedule
  • preparation of descriptions, drawing material and project documentation.

Tasks range from small maintenance tasks to larger renovation projects such as roof replacements.

You will get close to the buildings and those who use them

For us, the building construction engineer's work is not only about drawings and design. A large part of the work takes place in the existing building stock and in close dialogue with the people who use the buildings every day.

You will therefore gain experience in how technical, economic and practical considerations must be balanced when the municipality's buildings are to be maintained and developed – while everyday life must function for those who use them.

Responsibility and professional development

We would like you to become an active part of the team and have the opportunity to work with real tasks.

In the beginning you will receive a thorough introduction and close mentorship. As you become familiar with the tasks, you can take independent responsibility for limited tasks and smaller projects.

You will be assigned a fixed contact person who will follow your internship and ensure ongoing sparring and follow-up.

Possibility for bachelor's project

If it fits your academic interests and our current projects, the internship can also form the basis for your subsequent bachelor project.

It could, for example, take its starting point in a specific building, a maintenance task, a renovation project or a problem area from municipal property management.

Who are you?

We imagine that you

  • are studying to be a building construction engineer and will do an internship in the 6th semester in spring 2027
  • are interested in existing construction, maintenance and renovation
  • are curious and eager to learn
  • work in a structured way and take responsibility for your tasks
  • thrive in a daily life that takes place both at the office and on municipal properties
  • want to collaborate and communicate with many different professional groups
  • can work both independently and as part of a team
  • are somewhat familiar with Revit, AutoCAD or Dalux, but it is not a requirement

You do not need to know everything in advance. The most important thing is that you are professionally curious and want to translate what you have learned in your studies into concrete tasks.

What do we offer?

As an intern in Team Maintenance you will, among others, receive

  • practical experience with operation, maintenance and renovation
  • opportunity to follow projects from needs and planning to final solution
  • own tasks and responsibility with ongoing professional sparring
  • insight into project management, supervision, coordination and economy
  • close contact with tradespeople, contractors, consultants and users
  • experience with a large and varied property portfolio
  • insight into the work of a public client and property organisation
  • opportunity to meet suppliers and gain knowledge of different products and technical solutions
  • a fixed sparring partner throughout the internship
  • a relaxed working environment with room for both professional sparring and socializing.

We attach importance to ensuring that the internship period is not just something you can put on your CV. Here you should gain real experience, greater professional security and a good insight into daily life as a building construction engineer.

Internship period: Spring 2027

Duration: 20 weeks

Semester: 6th semester
