About the job

Are you currently studying for a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics or another education where software development plays a central role, and want to get hands-on experience applying software engineering in a real production codebase? Do you have experience with C#, object-oriented design or unit testing? Are you curious about how AI is changing the way software is built? Do you want to join a fast-moving R&D team that develops state-of-the-art solutions for highly engaged end-users in a global industry? Then, this internship could be just the thing for you!

About Unicontrol

Unicontrol has revolutionized 3D machine control systems for excavators, wheel loaders and dozers, making it accessible for a wider range of contractors. We have a strong vision of very high usability, and all our products and customers are always connected to our cloud/SaaS solution. Established in 2018, we have been able to gain strong and prominent investors from the robotics industry and we are growing fast. Excavators, wheel loaders and dozers are just the beginning, and we offer a position where you will be a key player in ensuring customers' experience when using our innovative solutions!

About the internship

We are opening an internship position to join our software development team within R&D. Our ambition is to guide and automate earthmoving machines, and you will be part of the team that builds the software running on our machine control systems.

As Software Engineering intern, you will work in our C# codebase, which runs on the Unity framework. Your focus will be on software engineering: writing maintainable code, improving architecture, testing and refactoring.

You will be part of a development team of highly experienced developers who are ready to share best practices and learn from you about new trends and technologies.

Your primary tasks will be

  • Design and implement new features in C#
  • Refactor and improve existing code for readability, structure and performance
  • Explore how AI tools can help us write, review and understand code faster
  • Take part in code reviews and our Pull Request process
  • Debug and fix issues found in testing or reported from the field
  • Use agile development tools like Git/Jira/Bitbucket

Your profile

You have a solid foundation in software engineering, with a passion for writing good code and a drive to solve complex challenges. Ideally, you already have programming experience from study projects, personal hobby projects or similar.

You have the drive to learn quickly and can push things forward by yourself. You will be faced with a large variety of development tasks and engage with the customers. Visits to construction sites with huge contracting machines can be a part of the job, and give you a first-hand impression of the context we are working in.

Key points on your profile

  • Study Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar and ready to start internship in winter 2027
  • Programming experience in C# or a similar object-oriented language (Java, C++)
  • Understanding of software design principles, e.g. SOLID, design patterns and clean code
  • Hungry to learn and eager to bring new ideas and methods from your studies into a real product
  • Curious about AI and keen to learn how to use it in your workflows
  • Able to communicate professionally in English, both spoken and written
