The Starfish and Sunshine are seeking a dedicated Nutrition Assistant with responsibility for the kitchen

We are looking for a trained nutrition assistant or a worker with a corresponding relevant education, who wants to take responsibility for the daily operation of the kitchen at Søstjernen and Solskin.

With us, meals are an important part of the children's daily life. They should provide energy, create joy around food and form the framework for good communities. Therefore we are looking for you, who is passionate about preparing healthy, varied and flavorful food for children, and who also thrives with the many practical tasks that keep a kitchen running.

About us

Søstjernen and Solskin are two day-care centers located in Brabrand. In total we are normed for 80 preschool children and 36 (+2) toddlers.

Our kitchen therefore has a central function in everyday life, where professionalism, planning and overview are decisive. We want to create good meal experiences for the children and ensure that the kitchen functions as a well-operating part of the institutions’ overall everyday life.

Your tasks

As a nutrition assistant you will be responsible for the kitchen's daily operation. You plan and coordinate the tasks and ensure that cooking, procurement, dishwashing and cleaning are handled in a good and responsible manner.

• Plan and prepare healthy, nourishing and varied meals for toddlers and preschool children in accordance with Aarhus Municipality's guidelines.
• Compose menus and plan purchases with focus on quality, nutrition, economy and as little food waste as possible.
• Order raw materials and keep an overview of the kitchen's stock and consumption.
• Ensure that the kitchen appears clean, tidy and inviting.
• Handle daily dishwashing and cleaning of the kitchen, work surfaces and equipment.
• Follow applicable guidelines for food hygiene, self-control and food safety.
• Create structure and good routines so that the kitchen's tasks are solved efficiently and with high quality.
• Collaborate with the institution's other staff about the children's meals and everyday life.

Your profile

We expect you to be a trained nutrition assistant or have a corresponding relevant education, and that you want to bring your professional competencies into play in a day-care setting.

• Have an interest in healthy, varied and tasty food for children.
• Can plan and structure your workday with many different tasks.
• Work independently, in a structured and responsible manner.
• Have a good grasp of hygiene, food safety and good kitchen practices.
• Have an eye for economy, use of raw materials and prevention of food waste.
• Are flexible and can maintain an overview when plans change.
• Meet children and adults with a positive and welcoming approach.
• Are eager to engage in good cooperation with the other staff.

It is important for us that you take ownership of the kitchen and want to develop good routines and workflows that work in practice.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Final salary determination takes place after negotiation with the authorized trade union based on qualifications, unless the position is covered by a pre-agreement which can form the basis for salary determination

Weekly working hours: 37
