About the job

In the Urology Surgical Inpatient Ward you as a nurse will function across the inpatient ward, in day surgery, the receiving unit and the acute outpatient clinic.

We are seeking 2 nurses in permanent positions. Both positions involve mixed shifts, predominantly day and evening, and working every 3rd weekend, which is a benchmark for Sygehus Lillebælt.

Currently we work regularly every 4th weekend, with some additional weekends.

We offer you a structured introduction program that will ensure you gain broad knowledge of the specialty and its functions, so that during your first year you will function in most units. It will give you a varied and versatile working week.

In the department we treat patients of all ages with diseases of the kidneys, bladder, the outflow tract and the male reproductive organs. Since we are an acute specialty, our patient flow is high..

Our inpatient ward consists of the following units

Inpatient Ward

Acute ambulatory clinic

Receiving unit

Day-surgical department

Catheter removal program

We offer two permanent positions at 37 hours per week, but at your request you can reduce your hourly hours after an introduction period.

There are certain functions that operate with opening hours from 7-17 on weekdays, so you should expect that on some days you will work in 10-hour shifts.

It can be noted that a large part of patient activity is reduced during school holidays, Christmas and public holidays.

We also offer

  • A warm collegial community with motivated colleagues whose competence profile ranges from novice to expert.
  • An introduction program with a mentoring arrangement - designed according to the principles of Sygehus Lillebælt's onboarding program.
  • Focus on excellent nursing and professional development – including ongoing internal professional education focusing on the urological patient: Tuesday 15 minutes of professional content and Thursday teaching. Wednesdays in even weeks we have reflection oasis and monthly simulation training.
  • Annual performance review (MUS).
  • Focus on the working environment – we focus on nursing workload, prioritization, timeouts, board meetings and varied functions.
  • We work with assigned patient care, but you always have a sparring partner.
  • A fast patient flow, where you become proficient in the short patient pathways.
  • A everyday where mid-morning and lunch breaks are the norm, preferably together with your colleagues.
  • Close collaboration with AVA, doctors, secretaries, operating room and the urology outpatient clinic. Across the urology department there are a couple of learning afternoons and a joint theme day a few times a year.

We are looking for

  • You who enjoy being challenged with different work functions and nursing tasks.
  • You who are passionate about the fundamental, acute, complex and highly specialized nursing.
  • You who, with good help from our geriatricians, will ensure good nursing care for the fragile patient with focus on among other things 5M, CFS score, nutrition, ADL and prevention of delirium.
  • You who will become proficient in insertion and care of different types of urinary catheters and infection prevention.
  • You who are excited about communication and information in the short hospital stays, reception and discharge of patients, provide holistic nursing care to the urological patient with focus on fluid balance, early mobilization and nutrition.
  • You who will become good at collaborating across professional groups.
  • You who find it exciting/interested in helping to educate students and trainees.
  • You who are keen to contribute to professional development.
