VIA UC’s canteens in Silkeborg and Viborg are seeking a trained cook, caterer or nutrition assistant for a temporary position of just under one year with start no later than 1 January 2027 – and preferably earlier.

Are you passionate about creating flavorful meals with seasonal ingredients and high quality? The canteens at VIA University College Campus Silkeborg and Campus Viborg are looking for a skilled cook, caterer or nutrition assistant who wants to become part of our dedicated kitchen teams.

The position is a temporary assignment of just under one year. You will start your temporary position in VIA's canteen in Silkeborg no later than January 1, 2027, and preferably earlier. From March 1, 2027 to November 15, 2027 you will continue the temporary position in VIA's canteen in Viborg.

The working hours are mainly Monday to Friday between 6:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., with few weekend and evening shifts.

YOUR TASKS

You must be able to work in all kitchen functions; preparation of morning and lunch menus, guest service, hot, cold, baking, vegetables, preserves, sandwiches and preferably experience with fermentation. Serving and attending to customers as well as cleaning and dishwashing are a natural part of the daily work.

VIA has 13 canteens, which work together across a common strategy, so there may also be opportunities for internship days in other VIA canteens.

YOUR COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

• You are trained as a cook/cater or nutrition assistant and have experience from a similar position.
• You have a high level of professionalism and passion for the field.
• You can work independently and responsibly and prioritize your own tasks.
• You have good organizational skills, work in a structured way and have an excellent overview.
• You are service-minded, flexible and enthusiastic about preparing tasty, healthy food with a sustainable focus.
• You are a team player and actively and consciously contribute to a good working environment, and you are reliable in terms of attendance.
• You naturally smile and are good at communicating with customers and colleagues and prioritizing good hospitality.
• You are eager to share knowledge with colleagues and are self-motivated for ongoing learning and professional development.
• You are keen to work with a focus on sustainable canteen operations.
• You have knowledge of social media, self-checks and stock ordering.
• You have a driver's license.

At VIA Campus Silkeborg and Viborg, we prepare food for students in professional bachelor programs as well as for course participants and staff. Each canteen has a kitchen team of seven employees with different professional backgrounds.

SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Salary and employment terms are set according to applicable agreements and collective agreements. For skilled cooks and caterers, salary and employment terms follow the common collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Public Employees Organisation as well as the organizational agreement for kitchen staff educated in the culinary field. For nutrition assistants, the common collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance, CO10 and LC and the organizational agreement for kitchen staff educated in the culinary field applies.

The position is a full-time role in a temporary appointment with just under 1 year of employment depending on start date.

Locations of employment are Nattergalevej 1, 8600 Silkeborg, and Prinsens Allé 2, 8800 Viborg.
