About the job
Do you want to help protect critical Danish infrastructure from advanced cyber threats and have a job with real meaning for Denmark's security? Then we are looking for two full-stack developers who want to help build the solutions that support our work in cyber defence.
You will get challenges and room to develop
We are the cyber sector's department for operational support and are responsible for both IT infrastructure and software solutions. We work broadly across the technology stack – from hardware and infrastructure to data engineering and application development.
We are seeking a full-stack developer who has both an eye for backend, software architecture and design patterns and an interest in frontend, user experience and the overall solution. You will therefore not only work with code, but with the whole journey from needs and ideas to a functioning solution in practice.
Software development is undergoing rapid change. AI agents can today implement solutions in a fraction of the time it previously took, and that also changes the developer's role. With us you will therefore not only write code. You will more often design solutions, set the direction for AI agents, evaluate their output and ensure that what we build actually solves the right problems.
The shorter path from idea to functioning software also means that we can work more experimentally. Instead of spending a long time specifying the perfect solution, we can quickly build a prototype, present it to users, collect feedback, and continuously improve the solution.
You will work closely with our architects, product owners, business analysts and users, who themselves are technically competent employees with great knowledge of IT and IT security. This requires that you can understand complex technical issues and translate user needs into a simple, robust and usable solution.
You will become part of a team of specialists with broad technical experience. We have an informal environment with high professionalism, short decision paths and room to experiment, challenge existing solutions and develop yourself both professionally and personally.
The tasks are diverse and can include solutions for business and compliance support, internal applications, automation and data engineering.
You and your background are important
We are looking for a developer with a strong and broad technical foundation and a desire to work with software development in a way that AI is a natural part of the toolbox. It is a requirement that you have a relevant IT educational background and/or understanding. We particularly emphasise the following qualifications:
Technical judgment
You understand software architecture, design patterns, API design, data modeling and the principles behind robust, secure and maintainable solutions. You can make technical choices and critically assess whether a solution is appropriate – even when the code is generated by an AI agent.
AI-native software development
You are comfortable with agentic coding and actively use AI in your development workflow. You can formulate tasks and frameworks for AI agents, work iteratively with their output and assess when the result is good enough and when it should be challenged or changed.
Broad code understanding
You have practical experience with several programming languages and are used to moving between different technology stacks and paradigms. This could be Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript and C/C++, for example. The important thing is not a specific language, but that you have broad software-technical understanding and can quickly get up to speed with new codebases and technologies. You should be able to read, understand and review code at a high level and identify undesirable abstractions, technical debt, errors and potential security issues.
Data and databases
You have experience with different types of databases and understand that the choice of data model and technology depends on the problem. We work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Elasticsearch, among others, and you must be able to work with relational, document-oriented and search-indexed data structures.
Full-stack understanding
You can move between backend and frontend and understand how architecture, data, APIs, application logic and user interface fit together. You do not need to be a specialist in all layers, but you must have an eye for the overall solution.
Product and user understanding
You can work closely with users and stakeholders, uncover their real needs and translate them into concrete software solutions. You are interested in both functionality and user experience and can challenge a solution proposal if there is a simpler or better way to solve the problem.
Experimental approach
You thrive on short iterations, prototypes and rapid feedback. You are comfortable with a solution changing direction when new knowledge shows there is a better path.
We do not expect you to be a specialist in all technologies, but we do expect you to have broad technical experience, a strong software engineering background and the ability to quickly understand new technologies, systems and problems.
If you dream of becoming part of this team and meet many – but not all – of the qualifications listed for the position, we encourage you to send an application.
Your new workplace
The Danish Defence Intelligence Service (FE) is Denmark's foreign intelligence service and works – secretly and openly – to protect Denmark and Danish interests in a changing world.
You will become part of a very special organisation where we stand together to solve an important task.
Many of your future colleagues are eager to make a difference, and we have a strong professional and social cohesion. Since we cannot talk much about our work with friends and family, a very special bond is created with your colleagues.
For us, it is not easy to take work home, as we handle confidential information. On the other hand, we offer a high degree of flexibility in planning your work time, and when you are not at work, you have complete freedom.
We place a strong emphasis on social cohesion, supported by various events such as a Friday bar and board game cafe. You also have the option to join various professional forums that cross the organisation. We also have a sports association where you can engage in different types of exercise with colleagues.
As an FE employee, you are subject to special terms. You must be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout your employment. As in the rest of the Defence, you may be required to deploy abroad for short periods if needed.
You can read more about FE on our website www.fe-ddis.dk.
Your salary package depends on your qualifications
Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the relevant professional organisation, depending on your educational background.
In addition, you have the opportunity to negotiate additional pay based on qualifications. The average working time is 37 hours per week including a paid lunch break.
The position includes a pension scheme paid by FE.
How to apply for the position
Please send your application, CV, educational certificates and other relevant documentation via the job posting, no later than November 15, 2026.
At FE, we strive to treat all applicants equally, so you may omit attaching a photo of yourself to your CV and application.
We expect the initial employment interviews to take place in week 47 and aim for a start date of February 1, 2027.
You are welcome to contact the local HR partner at [email protected] if you have questions about the position or want more information.
An employment relationship with FE is treated confidentially, which you as an applicant should be aware of in the application process. This means that just as we do not tell anyone that you have applied for a position with us, please also refrain from sharing it with others.
We look forward to receiving your application.
