About the job

We are seeking a urogynecological clinical nursing specialist for the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics D, Odense University Hospital.

Holistic and urogynecological specialty

Women's health has gained increased attention, and we would like to translate this momentum into even better nursing care and patient pathways.

In the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics D, we have high professional ambitions. We work purposefully with evidence-based nursing, quality and development, where the needs and perspectives of patients and their relatives are the central focus.

At the same time, health reform and The New OUH give us reason to think big and rethink both patient pathways, collaboration and organization.

Therefore we are looking for a professionally strong and development-oriented clinical nursing specialist who is passionate about the close clinical practice and eager to shape the future of gynecological nursing.

About the Department of Gynecology

The Gynecology Department handles evaluation, treatment and care of women with both benign and malignant gynecological disorders. The department consists of a ward and outpatient clinics, where patients are received for:

  • surgical gynecological procedures and postoperative courses
  • gynecologic cancer (gyn-oncology) with associated evaluation and treatment pathways
  • complex, chronic gynecological conditions, including for example endometriosis and pelvic disorders
  • acute gynecological problems

The ward accommodates both acute and planned admissions, and work is conducted with high patient throughput, short pathways and close involvement of patients and relatives.

The outpatient clinic handles evaluation, control follow-up and monitoring, where outpatient contact and cross-sector collaboration are central.

The general gynecological pathways range from shorter, uncomplicated treatment courses to more complex, often cross-sectoral pathways.

You will play a central role in strengthening nursing quality and the coherence of pathways across our sites in Odense and Svendborg – for both inpatients, day surgery and outpatient patients.

A special responsibility for urogynecology

You will have your primary professional responsibility within urogynecology, where we handle evaluation, treatment and follow-up of women with, among other things, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder and prolapse of pelvic organs.

Patient pathways include both conservative and surgical treatment. Our independent nursing clinics play a central role, and we see great potential in further developing nursing services and creating even better coherence across Odense and Svendborg.

Your specific tasks will be to

  • Develop and assure the quality of urogynecological nursing based on evidence and clinical experience.
  • Further develop the independent nursing clinics and strengthen the professional competencies and responsibilities of the nurses.
  • Create coherence between outpatient, day surgery and other patient pathways.
  • Identify development needs and translate new knowledge into concrete improvements in clinical practice.
  • Participate actively in interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaborations on patient pathways
  • Contribute to competence development, teaching and implementation of new nursing initiatives.

You will have your primary organizational affiliation in the Gynecological Outpatient Clinic in Svendborg. Working at both sites is a natural part of the role.

Close to the patients – with a view to the entire department

We believe that the best development of nursing occurs close to the patients. Therefore we expect you to actively participate in direct patient care and be part of the department's on-call work.

You should be a visible professional role model who, through reflection, sparring and clinical practice, inspires colleagues and strengthens the professional learning environment.

Even though you have a special responsibility within your subspecialty, we expect you to be interested in the department's overall development and contribute to cross-cutting quality, development and implementation tasks as well as the work with OUH's nursing strategy and the department's strategic objectives.

You will become part of a strong professional community with close collaboration with the nursing professional leader, the development nurse, the chief nurse, the department's other clinical nursing specialists and the research nurse. You will also join our Nursing Professional Development Forum and have the opportunity to participate in the Nursing Professional Academy.

Who are you?

We are looking for a nurse with a relevant master's degree or equivalent, strong clinical skills and a desire to develop nursing.

You work systematically and evidence-based, have good collaboration and communication skills and can create engagement around professional changes. You thrive on combining clinical work with development tasks and have both an eye for patient needs and the department's overall development.

We offer

An exciting specialist function in a department with high professional ambitions, dedicated colleagues and a strong focus on quality, education, research and development.

You will have the opportunity to influence the future of nursing in an organization that believes in professional pride, collaboration and a good working environment.
