About the job

We are looking for a full-time caregiver for two active twin boys aged 14 with a family in Ringsted.

You can easily be a student or unskilled. The most important is that you are calm, accommodating and stable – and have a tendency to smile and laugh.

The position averages 15.58 hours per week with a fixed shift rota.

Description of the family and the boys

The boys have Dravet syndrome and cognitive disabilities. They therefore need support and help in everyday life.

They are active and full of personality. They enjoy PlayStation and Roblox, games, puzzles, music, TV and iPad.

They also participate in Lykkeliga handball and swimming. You will accompany them here, and when swimming you must be prepared to jump into the water.

You will be part of a fixed team of three staff around the boys. On most shifts you will be two staff together.

You will be part of an open and loving family that emphasizes a close and good collaboration with you regarding the boys and the task. The family also has a sweet and calm Labrador living at home.

Description of the task

A large part of the job involves spending time with the boys. You will help create good and secure hours with activities, coziness and structure.

You also assist with personal care. This can include toilet visits, bathing, brushing teeth, dressing and undressing and nappies in connection with sleep.

One of the boys receives nutrition via a PEG tube , and both boys have epilepsy. You will receive thorough training in tube feeding, PEG tube, epilepsy, seizures and seizure-causing medication.

You do not need to know it in advance.

The boys need structure, predictability and clear adults. We work pedagogically with low arousal and various pedagogical tools, including Traffic Light .

One of the boys can sometimes react strongly when something becomes difficult. Here it is important that you can remain calm and meet him with patience and redirection.

You will receive a comprehensive introduction and training in the pedagogical approach and the tools used around the boys .

Who are you?

We are not looking for a specific education. Experience with children or people with special needs is an advantage, but not a requirement.

  • are comfortable with personal care
  • have a driving license and are ready to drive the family's handicap bus with manual transmission
  • do not smoke
  • can see yourself in the job for a minimum of one year.

The most important is that the chemistry between you and the boys is good , and that you want to become a stable part of their daily life.
