Create calm and safe afternoons for a boy with autism

Do you have experience with autism and a calm and patient approach? Here you get a fixed assignment where structure, recognisability and presence are important.

About the task

You will be a fixed support for a boy with autism, who becomes tired quickly and therefore needs calm and predictable surroundings. You welcome him when he comes home from school, where he needs to find calm after the day's impressions.

After school he gerne spends a bit of time with his iPad while he settles down. Thereafter you help him with the regular routines in the afternoon. The task includes personal care in the form of diaper changes and help with bathing. You also ensure something to eat and drink and later warm up dinner, which you sit with him while he eats.

The boy thrives best with routines and recognisable situations. Your most important task is therefore to create structure and predictability around the afternoon's various transitions and meet him with calm and patience. When he becomes overwhelmed, he especially needs support to find calm again.

About you

You are unskilled and would preferably have experience with children with autism or other special needs. Knowledge of autism is an advantage, as it is important that you understand the need for structure, predictability and a calm approach.

You can work patiently and follow the recognisable routines around the boy's afternoon. At the same time you are comfortable providing personal care and can create a calm interaction without placing unnecessary demands.

Working hours

The position consists of 8 hours per week as well as 16 hours per month on weekends.

The fixed weekday hours are

Monday 15:00–17:00

Wednesday 15:00–18:00

Friday 14:00–17:00

In addition, there are 16 hours per month on weekends. The concrete weekend days and times are agreed according to need.
