About the job

The School for Clinical Assistants and Dental Hygienists (SKT) at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Copenhagen seeks a dynamic and development-oriented person for a position as Education Leader for the education leading to the professional bachelor's degrees in dental hygiene.

We are seeking a person with a health sciences education at master’s level or equivalent.

You must have competencies in health promotion and prevention. If you are trained as a dentist or dental hygienist you must hold Danish authorization and be able to document competencies for work in health promotion. If you have another educational background you must have experience and competencies within health promotion and prevention. If you have teaching and leadership experience as well as other relevant further education, that may be an advantage.

The position is available from 1 January 2027 or as agreed.

About the School

SKT’s core tasks are to implement the education leading to the professional bachelor in dental hygiene (dental hygienist), the dental clinic assistant education, and the academic degree in odontological practice.

SKT also arranges relevant continuing and further education, as well as conducts education in Greenland. SKT collaborates with the Odontological Institute (Dental School) and other units at the faculty to solve the tasks.

The school has 75 staff and more than 400 students.

At SKT we emphasize responsibility, esprit de corps and development. It is part of SKT’s culture to promote respect, trust, empathy, and diversity – just as it is valued that everyone has the opportunity to speak up and express their opinions. SKT sets clear demands and expectations for both staff and students, who are expected to contribute to the development of the school and the programs. The daily collaboration is also characterized by responsibility, recognition, and humor. We use new technology where it supports and enhances our task execution.

You will join SKT’s management team reporting to the principal. You will be responsible for leadership and development of the dental hygienist education and of a group of permanent staff and hourly teachers. The school’s clinics are led by our clinic manager, with whom you will have close collaboration.

Your tasks are primarily solved in collaboration with the management team and the principal and include, among other things:

  • contribute to the development, implementation, and reporting of strategy and action plans for the SKT educations with particular focus on the Professional Bachelor program in dental hygiene, so that the program remains up-to-date in form and content and develops in balance between society’s, patients’, purchasers’ and the students’ expectations and needs
  • contribute to ensuring that the education recruits a sufficient number of qualified students who complete the education within normative time
  • contribute to providing students with an optimal teaching environment and employees with a work environment where they thrive and develop as professionally and personally
  • contribute to developing and offering relevant continuing and further education activities for dental hygienists and the odontological team
  • contribute to creating and maintaining contact with SKT’s important stakeholders nationally and internationally
  • manage personnel leadership and have independent responsibility for one’s own staff group
  • prioritize SKT’s resources to achieve the best possible results for the Professional Bachelor education in dental hygiene (dental hygienist), SKT’s other educations, and for the faculty and the University of Copenhagen.
  • participate in teaching of the dental hygiene students within one or more of the profession’s central professional areas.

Your qualifications

We emphasize that you can document that you

  • have a relevant education at master’s level
  • have competencies within health promotion and prevention and possibly team dental care or interdisciplinary work
  • have analytical competencies and are development-oriented, and can lead a team to find solutions and achieve results
  • can motivate and delegate as well as collaborate at all levels
  • have experience with knowledge dissemination and preferably extensive knowledge of learning, pedagogy, and didactics
  • have conducted or shown interest in research
  • have good English skills

We offer

  • a diverse and challenging job characterized by ongoing development
  • great autonomy in solving tasks – as well as a broad contact surface with internal and external stakeholders
  • a workplace where tasks are solved in a team-based manner with emphasis on diversity and mutual respect for each other’s competencies and viewpoints
  • engaged colleagues who value teamwork and both odontological and pedagogical professional knowledge in the work, with an informal, open and respectful tone
  • professional and personal development opportunities

There is no research obligation attached to the position, but it will be possible to conduct research and development projects focusing on learning and health pedagogy to a limited extent.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is 37 hours per week and is permanent.

We offer employment in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and Akademikerne, with the possibility of negotiating a qualification allowance, or in accordance with the state dental hygienists’ wage agreement or other relevant agreement. You can read more about state salary levels on this page.
