About the job

At Ungeguiden we, among other things, carry out the educational guidance of pupils and youths from primary school up to age 25. We are currently seeking an educational counsellor for a maternity leave cover full-time position with start on 1 January 2027.

In educational guidance, we work in task communities and we are looking for a colleague who would like to step into a position that currently is primarily aimed at advising 7th-10th grade students in primary schools, as well as advising youths up to 18 years old. If you, like us, are passionate about motivating young people and know how important it is to help young people with challenges on their educational path, then this exciting position may be for you.

Ungeguiden at Papirfabrikken

Ungeguiden is a house with just under 60 staff, consisting of coordinating caseworkers, business consultants, educational counsellors and retention mentors, as well as four team coordinators and two managers who work closely together on a shared core task:

”We help young people between 15 and 29 to achieve education, work and self-support through an individually tailored and coherent intervention”

Our guiding principles are

Focus on work and education - The young person’s resources and potentials - Interdisciplinary effort - Healing communities - Reflective practice

The guidance task

The guidance team consists of 20 educational counsellors and 2 team coordinators, who together share ensuring guidance to all young people from primary school up to age 25.

Primary school guidance aims, among other things, to inform about education opportunities and employment, as well as to support and challenge the students' reflections on future education and career paths. The daily work is based on a municipal cooperation agreement with the school department, and the guidance is always carried out in collaboration with the young person and the parents as well as the school's teachers and leadership.

The guidance of the 15- to 17-year-olds is primarily aimed at those who have not started directly in education after finishing school. Here too, the guidance takes place in interaction with the young person and the parents as well as relevant professionals.

We are looking for a counsellor who

  • Has experience working with young people (you are a trained teacher, educator or educational counsellor)
  • Is interested in working with all youth age groups
  • Has good experience with educational guidance and knowledge of the education system
  • Has a diploma in educational, vocational and career guidance.
  • Sees interdisciplinary collaboration as a strength
  • Has a kind heart and an appreciative approach with a humorous and positive outlook on life
  • Is an engaged and clear colleague who, like us, is curious about the individual young person and prioritizes close parent collaboration
  • Can find individual solutions in collaboration with the young person
  • Is flexible regarding work planning and willing to have their work week distributed across several schools/locations
  • Can work independently and is good at prioritizing, planning and structuring their work in a complex daily life with high tempo and many deadlines
  • Has good IT skills and flair for administrative work
  • Has own car available

We offer

  • that you can become part of an organization where a good working environment and influence help ensure a high quality in task execution
  • a guidance professional community with 20 engaged and professionally competent educational counsellors, who are always ready with sparring
  • an informal tone of voice, where there is room for a good laugh.
  • a high level of flexibility and independence in daily life.
  • high priority on involvement and meaning-making guidance efforts for the young.
  • a community that looks after one another in a sometimes hectic daily life
