Nurse for the shielded unit NV1 at Symfonien

Do you want to use your entire nursing expertise and at the same time help raise the quality in dementia care?

At Symfonien in Næstved we are looking for a nurse for NV1 – a secured unit with 25 residents spread over two wards.

Here you will become an important part of a multidisciplinary community where we create safety, dignity, and quality of life for people with dementia and cognitive challenges. You will get close to the residents and also take on a central role in the professional development of practice.

About Symfonien and NV1

Symfonien is part of the Elderly Care area in District Northwest, Næstved Municipality. In NV1 we work in multidisciplinary mini-teams and take the whole person as the starting point – the resident's health, well-being, resources, life story, wishes and daily life.

We believe that the best solutions arise when the right competencies are brought into play at the right time. Therefore, we collaborate closely with nurses, social and health care assistants, social and health helpers, unskilled staff, pharmaconomist, kitchen manager and relevant professional specialists around the resident.

The food is prepared close to the residents and tailored to individual needs, including for example dysphagia. For us, mealtime is nutrition, community, recognisability, quality of life and care.

Your role

As a nurse in NV1 you will play a central role in ensuring and developing the health professional quality. You observe, assess, act and follow up on complex nursing issues and contribute to safe documentation and high patient safety.

Good nursing for us is about medicine, treatment and clinical observations – and about relationships, security, prevention of distress and understanding what may lie behind an behavior.

An important part of the role is to share your knowledge through buddy-teaching and practice-based/bedside training of both skilled and unskilled colleagues. You should be willing to be the colleague who says: “Let’s look at it together.”

You get a great opportunity to plan and prioritise your nursing tasks autonomously. In close cooperation with management you follow up on professional initiatives and contribute to the overall quality in the secured units.

We are looking for someone who

• is a trained nurse
• has an interest in elderly care and preferably experience with dementia
• has strong clinical and relational competencies
• works structurally, keeps an overview and can prioritise independently
• takes professional responsibility and dares to make decisions
• wants to share knowledge and strengthen colleagues through buddy-teaching and practice-based/bedside teaching
• is curious about other professional fields and can communicate your own professional practice so that it makes sense in practice
• sees documentation, quality and patient safety as a natural part of nursing
• wants to develop both yourself, your colleagues and our shared practice

You do not need to be a dementia specialist when you start. Perhaps you have many years of experience, perhaps you are newly graduated. The most important thing is your professional curiosity, your engagement and your desire to make a difference for people with dementia.

Salary and employment terms follow the applicable agreement between KL and DSR.

Working hours per week: 37 hours, primarily day shifts and with a weekend shift every 3rd weekend.
