Project Manager for DAMRC

DAMRC (Danish Advanced Manufacturing Research Center) is a knowledge and technology center in Herning, helping Danish manufacturing companies become more competitive and greener. We operate at the intersection of research, technology and industry – and translate new knowledge into concrete solutions on site in companies.

DAMRC is growing, and we are scaling up. We have completed more than 400 industrial projects since 2010 – from concrete tasks at individual companies to larger development projects with several partners – and now we are expanding the team that runs them. Therefore we are seeking a project manager who can take responsibility for projects from the first conversation to final delivery.

Your role

As a project manager at DAMRC you will be the one to get things done. You will be responsible for a portfolio ranging from optimization projects for individual companies to larger funded research and development projects with several partners.

You will get close to both research and the shop floor. You can see the result of your work operating on a machine at a company a few months after the project started.

You will be working with technology that matters beyond the individual company. Productivity, the defense industry and green transition are more prominent in Danish production than ever, and our projects sit in the middle of that.

Your main tasks

• Drive development and optimization projects for our members and customers – from clarification and agreement to delivery and follow-up
• Act as project manager on larger funded development projects: build consortia, keep track of milestones, budget and reporting
• Source and evaluate new technology from our international partners and figure out what is worth bringing home
• Translate between the needs of companies and the technical possibilities – and assess which projects are worth starting
• Build and use the network among member companies, knowledge institutions and international partners
• Contribute to our professional conferences, courses and teaching programs

Who are you?

We imagine you have experience leading technical projects – preferably with multiple parties involved, and preferably where not all were in the same organization as you. Above all you are a person who completes projects and not just starts.

In addition, it is important that you

• Have a solid technical foundation in production, metal or composite
• Have knowledge of subtractive machining or related manufacturing processes
• Can set and meet milestones and deadlines – and keep others to them
• Work independently and take initiative, but at the same time be a strong team player
• Communicate professionally in Danish and good English

It is an advantage if you have experience with publicly funded projects and the reporting that accompanies them, or if you come from a manufacturing company and know what a stoppage day costs.

You don’t have to be the best expert in the room – but you must be able to follow a technical discussion and dare to challenge it.

You will work at Industrivej Syd 17A in Herning. Expect travel days to companies across the country and occasional trips to international partners.
