Social educators sought for something truly special Do you want to help create six new homes for adults with autism? Some pedagogical jobs are about supporting many. Here it is about succeeding with one.

At Dag- og Botilbud Gefion we are opening six new, sheltered homes under the Danish Service Act § 108 for adults with autism spectrum disorders and significant, complex support needs.

Therefore we are seeking social educators who are passionate about highly specialized pedagogy and want to help create a new service from the very beginning.

Six citizens. Six homes. Six individual solutions. The citizens have autism and significant, lasting functional impairments. Some may have self-harming or outwardly directed behavior and be very vulnerable to, among other things, sound, light, demands, changes and social contexts. Several require extensive support for communication, personal care and daily activities.

It requires something special from you as a social educator.

You must be able to create calm without stopping yourself, be clear without being rigid and be persistent without pushing.

When a citizen reacts, we do not only ask: How do we stop the behavior?

We ask

What is the citizen trying to tell us? What became too difficult? And what can we do differently?

Here, the surroundings are part of the pedagogy The new homes are designed with the group’s specific needs in mind. Citizens receive their own sheltered homes, and light, sound, interior, structure and sensory stimuli can be adapted individually.

The goal is not for the citizen to fit into the surroundings.

We create environments in which the citizen can thrive.

You will, among other things, work with

• autism-specific pedagogy and individual strategies
• structure, predictability and recognizability
• visual support and individually adapted communication
• sensation, arousal and prevention of overload
• relationship work and closely individualized support
• professional reflection, documentation and shared learning.

We are looking for someone who... is educated as a social educator and wishes to work with people with extensive support needs. You can remain calm and maintain professional overview, even when situations become demanding, and you are curious about what lies behind a citizen’s behavior.

You must be able to work independently close to the individual citizen, but you will not be alone in the task .

The six homes will be part of Dag- og Botilbud Gefion, which is already a highly specialized autism-specific day and residential care facility. You will therefore be part of a larger professional environment with colleagues and access to cross-functional supportive functions.

Experience from the specialist field is an advantage. Your professional curiosity, stability and desire to work with the target group are at least as important.

Practical information

📍 Employment according to current collective agreement

📍There will be 2 information meetings.

1st information meeting will be held on Monday 9/11 from 16-17.

2nd information meeting will be held on Wednesday 18/11 from 16-17.
