About the job

Do you want more professional responsibility – and day shifts?

Become a nurse in the Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinic at Herlev Hospital

Do you want to use your nursing professionalism more independently, follow the patients closely and develop yourself within an exciting medical specialty? And would you like to have a weekday routine with day shifts, professional sparring and the possibility to take responsibility for your own patient pathways?

Then it may be you we are looking for.

We are seeking a nurse for our infectious disease outpatient clinic at Herlev Hospital. We offer a position where you will have the opportunity to develop professionally, build specialized knowledge and play an important role in the patients’ trajectories.

A job with responsibility, variety and opportunities to develop yourself

In our outpatient clinic we meet patients with many different infectious disease problems and life situations. It provides a varied workday, where you will need to use your clinical expertise, your communication skills and your ability to build trust.

A significant part of the work consists of independent nursing tasks. You will have the opportunity to manage your own patient pathways, conduct nursing consultations according to framework order and document in the journal for selected patients.

You will, among other things, work with

  • Independent nursing consultations and follow-up on patient pathways.
  • Advice, treatment and follow-up on medical treatment.
  • Conversations about sexual health and other personal or sensitive topics.
  • Fibro scanning of the liver and participation in diagnostic examinations, including assistance with lumbar puncture.
  • Telephone counseling, coordination and documentation in the Sundhedsplatformen (Health Platform).

You do not need to know it all from day one. We will ensure a thorough introductory program with individual training, on-call shifts and ongoing supervision. We expect, however, that you are curious, take responsibility for your learning and want to gradually become more independent.

A small team, where professional sparring matters

You will become part of an outpatient department with 14 nurses, of whom three are attached to the infectious disease team.

We are a small team with close collaboration, where we use each other for professional sparring, share experiences and help each other make everyday life function. You will have the opportunity to influence your own professional development and become an important part of the team’s overall competencies.

We place emphasis on a workplace characterized by respect, inclusivity, humor and integrity. We have different competencies, and we believe that we become better nurses when we collaborate and are curious about each other’s perspectives.

You must like people – even when their life is different from your own

In infectious medicine we meet people with different backgrounds, relationships, life choices and health challenges. Some conversations involve topics that can be personal or difficult to talk about, for example sexuality and sexual health.

For us it is essential that you meet all patients openly and respectfully. You must be able to listen without judgment, ask relevant questions and create security – even when the topic is sensitive, or the patient’s life situation is different from your own.

We are looking for a colleague who both enjoys the clinical professionalism and the human side of nursing.

We imagine that you

  • Are a licensed nurse and preferably have experience from clinical nursing. You can also be newly graduated with a particular commitment and desire to develop.
  • Want to work independently and take responsibility for your own tasks and patient pathways.
  • Are professionally curious and motivated to get to know a new specialty.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully and can build trust in both short and longer patient contacts.
  • Are inclusive, non-judgmental and comfortable talking with patients about personal and sensitive topics.
  • Appreciate close collaboration with colleagues and other professional groups.

Experience from an outpatient clinic or the infectious disease specialty is an advantage, but not a requirement. The most important thing is that you want to learn, can take responsibility and wish to contribute actively to the team.

Practical about the position

  • Working hours: 32-37 hours per week in day shifts.
  • Start date: December 2026 or January 2027 by agreement.
  • Workplace: Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinic, Herlev Hospital.
  • Weekend and holiday work: After completion of the introduction you join weekend shifts in the ward every fourth weekend in day shifts, and two holidays per year. We also help the ward on weekdays when they hold theme days.
  • Salary: After negotiation with DSR.

We are a training site for nursing students and participate in the education of future nurses. You will therefore also have the opportunity to share your knowledge and contribute to a professional learning environment.

Would you like to become our new colleague?

If you want a weekday routine with day shifts, independent nursing tasks and the opportunity to develop in a specialized field, we would love to hear from you.

We look forward to meeting you and telling you more about daily life in our infectious diseases outpatient clinic.
