Teacher with special education competencies sought

We are looking for a teacher in A+ who has knowledge of special education for a target group with pervasive developmental disorders such as infantile autism and cognitive challenges. You must be able to work closely with other professionals to create a daily life characterized by structure and predictability for our students.

About us: A+ is a department with 8 pupils under Gl. Hjortespringskole. We work with students who mainly have pervasive developmental disorders and are within the autism spectrum. Our students, who are the sweetest in Herlev, are, overall, not age-appropriately cognitively developed, are nonverbal and therefore often have large communication challenges. We support the students' language with PECS, speech devices and pictograms to meet each individual's needs. We are about to start a development project where SVS will be central throughout.

Daily life: A+ has its own premises at Naturcenter Kildegården, which are located in beautiful and tranquil surroundings with animals around us. We create a learning environment where students' daily lives allow time for calm, structure, predictability and immersion. We are a fixed team that jointly handles the tasks around the class and the individual students. The team consists of a teacher, pedagogues and teaching assistants. We work from a holistic approach and have close collaboration with social workers, psychologists, speech and hearing consultants, health nurse and physiotherapist.

Teaching: The teaching is based on the student's potentials. It is the staff who develop goals and action plans for the student's academic, social and personal development.

We are seeking

We are looking for an engaged and empathetic teacher who

• has experience with or a desire to work with special educational interventions for nonverbal students within the autism spectrum.
• can create predictability, recognition, safety and calm through fixed structures, routines, visualization and repetitions.
• is curious about the students' potentials and can tailor the teaching to their individual needs.
• thrives in a close interdisciplinary collaboration and actively contributes to a positive, developmental and inclusive learning environment.
• meets students, parents and colleagues with professionalism, engagement, humor and resilience.
• has a driving licence and preferably experience driving a minibus and/or cycling a cargo bike.

Salary and employment

The salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. The positions are full-time with start on January 1, 2027. Herlev Municipality has smoke-free working hours.
