About the job

Would you like to put your legal skills and knowledge into play together with talented colleagues, so we can together ensure a good marine environment and a transition to a more sustainable fishing industry? Are you passionate about legal work? Do you want to bring your entire legal toolbox into play? And are you keen to work with complex legal questions in an agency that daily handles both EU rules and national legislation and supports the professional inputs to new legislation?

The Environmental Protection Agency seeks a lawyer for our Marine Office, which is responsible for the rules that shall ensure the good marine environment and support the drafting of the upcoming 10-year plan for the fishing industry.

You will join an agency that is moving at full speed toward a more action-oriented Environmental Protection Agency, and where both frameworks, tasks, and organization are in motion. At the same time you join a field of expertise that is central to the regulation of the marine environment, characterized by high legal complexity and strong political attention.

If you want to work with a broad and exciting regulatory complex and you think it is exciting to work with colleagues who have a different professional background, where you will contribute with your legal knowledge so that we together can ensure correct implementation of the legislation, then it is you we are looking for.

A substantial part of the office's tasks relate to the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive and Denmark's Marine Strategy, which shall ensure the good marine environment, and where there is a need for good collaboration between natural science knowledge and legal understanding in order to ensure that we reach the goal. In addition, together with the Ministry of Environment's department and our stakeholders, which include the industry and green organizations, we must ensure that the fishing industry can develop in the best sustainable way for the environment.

We value creating balance between work and leisure and safeguarding a good collegial community, where we help each other, and where our professional administration is in the foreground. We have a work environment characterized by camaraderie, good spirit and a relaxed and informal tone. We offer an exciting professional environment, where there is both an opportunity for sparring with experienced colleagues and to develop your own talents. You will have the opportunity for a diverse daily life with a high degree of independent responsibility in an office where flexibility and job satisfaction are in focus.

You will deal with everything from department support to concrete case handling, legal interpretation and access to documents, cross-government analyses, and with very good opportunities to apply and develop your legal competencies.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is either experienced in legal advisory in public administration or newly graduated, but who would like to gain this experience. You may have experience from another public authority, company or law firm. We would very much like you to have from previous employment experience with note writing or concrete case handling.

You will often need to collaborate with colleagues with different professional backgrounds, therefore we emphasize that you can communicate your legal advice to other professional groups, and that you can find solutions that can be translated into practical everyday life. We also emphasize that you have an interest in politics, and are an approachable person who contributes positively to a good atmosphere in the office.
