Unclassified resident physician at the Department of Urology, Vejle Hospital

A position as an unclassified resident physician at the Urology Department, Urinary Tract Surgery, Vejle Hospital, is available for occupancy from 1 December 2026 to 30 November 2027.

Duties

37-hour position with on-call duties. On weekdays and weekends a two-shift on-call function, double staffed during daytime. Holidays and weekends are 24-hour on-call. In the evenings and on weekends the organ surgery ward is also covered, together with a dedicated backup on call. In addition to on-call duties you will also have outpatient and ward-round duties.

The Department

The Urology Department handles acute and elective urology at main function level for the northern part of the Region of Southern Denmark.

The department includes the Center for Kidney Stones and Endourology and has a regional function for the treatment of kidney stones. The center provides high-level kidney stone treatment, including treatment of children. The department has 18 inpatient beds, 2 operating rooms on the inpatient operating ward and 1 - 2 rooms in the day-surgery operating area. In addition, an outpatient clinic with 4 - 5 physician programs and 1 - 2 nursing programs per day.

The annual activity includes approximately 2300 admissions, 2400 surgeries and 16,000 outpatient visits.

There is a shared on-call with the organ surgery department after 15:00 and on weekends. The majority of on-call work, however, lies within the urology domain.

Teaching and research

The department is affiliated with the Urological Research Unit, which has status as a focused research group at the University of Southern Denmark, Institute of Regional Health Research. The research group includes a professorship, an associate professor, two research nurses and several PhD students.

The department's main research areas are kidney stones, endourology, prostate diseases, uroradiology and pain in the urinary tract.

Salary and employment conditions

In addition to the starting salary, the salary may include negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.

Housing can be provided if there are available homes. The position is covered by New Pay.
