Nurse responsible for general care

About the job

Are you passionate about nursing in an environment where you can both deepen your professional knowledge, work independently and at the same time have freedom in your daily life? Can you see yourself cycling through the city streets from citizen to citizen, making a difference? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for to our team in Home Care/Home Nursing VKV.

We are currently seeking nurses for permanent daytime positions, typically 37 hours per week, with work every 4th weekend and a fixed 8-week rotation. With us you will be responsible for the citizens' overall care trajectory, and you will become part of a strong community where we work for health promotion and prevention.

In your daily work you will have the opportunity to work with a broad spectrum of tasks, for example

  • care trajectory responsibility for the individual citizen focusing on resources and quality of life
  • nursing at both basic and complex levels – including care of the dying in the home
  • tasks with both complex medical patients and frail demented citizens
  • close interdisciplinary collaboration with SSAs, SSHs, doctors, hospitals, rehabilitation teams and authorities
  • guidance and teaching of nursing students and other professional groups

We don’t know you yet, but we imagine that..

You are a trained nurse and preferably have experience with elderly citizens. You may have knowledge of geriatrics, medical conditions or psychiatry and thrive on taking responsibility for both your own and shared tasks.

The most important thing is that you have an interest in the geriatric patient, and that you wish to use your nursing skills to help older residents of Copenhagen in their own homes. We value that you are willing to share your knowledge, are curious about new challenges and have good collaboration skills.

About us

Home Care/Home Nursing VKV is part of the Health and Care Administration of the City of Copenhagen. We cover a large area crossing Vesterbro, Kongens Enghave and Valby, and our base is Krumtappen 2 - in the heart of Valby and close to train and bus lines.

You will receive a thorough introduction and training based on your competencies. You also have the opportunity to further develop your skills and undertake continuing education through us, just as many of our other nurses have done, pursuing further training alongside work.

We are a professionally strong team of nurses with different levels of experience and a shared passion for citizen-centered nursing care for elderly residents of Copenhagen in their own homes. We have, among other things, resource persons in palliative care, wound care, dementia, citizen-centered nursing and incontinence, etc.

In addition, you get

  • flexible working hours and few weekend shifts
  • influence on your own work schedule – also on holidays
  • the city’s best colleagues (we actually think so ourselves)
  • professional support from your own nursing supervisor
  • ongoing sparring, supervision and opportunities for further training
  • an engaged management that invites participation and shared responsibility

Employment terms

In Home Care/Home Nursing VKV we cycle out to the citizens. Therefore it is a requirement that you are comfortable cycling around the city.

Salary and employment terms are according to the applicable collective agreement, and in connection with your possible employment we will obtain a criminal record and references.

The positions are daytime shifts as a rule 37 hours per week with work every 4th weekend and a fixed 8-week rotation.

We hope you can start as soon as possible.

If you have previously been employed by the City of Copenhagen, in addition

If you are considered for a position in a municipal unit, we will check whether you have been dismissed or suspended from the municipality within the last three years and share relevant information with the hiring manager. This may also include information about criminal offenses that led to dismissal or exclusion from the City of Copenhagen, information about substance abuse such as a positive alcohol test, or information about medical history that may be significant for a new employment with the municipality.

This does not apply to employment at a self-governing nursing home. Read more about reference checks here.

Do you have questions?

Then you are welcome to contact the head of the nursing group for Kgs. Enghave/Vesterbro, Margit Jessen at 40 12 59 31 or the head of the nursing group for Valby, Susanne Frølander at 21 27 27 06.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Apply via the link no later than Sunday, 22 November 2026

Interviews will be held on the 23rd or 24th of November 2026.
