Educator for a permanent position at Nexus Youth Center

Ungecenter Nexus is seeking a dedicated and professionally strong educator for a permanent 37-hour-per-week position with earliest possible start.

You will become part of our team, working with young people aged 18 to 25 who are in vulnerable positions.

About Ungecenter Nexus

Ungecenter Nexus is a municipal service where we work relationally and with the individual young person’s needs, resources and possibilities as the starting point.

A large part of the pedagogical work takes place in the building, where the young people come as part of their daily lives.

It can be the important conversation over a meal, an activity with a group of young people, support to handle something difficult, or being the adult who remains available even when the relationship requires time.

Crime prevention is a significant part of our task. We work with both the individual young person and the communities the young person is part of. We focus on preventing marginalisation and attachment to inappropriate and crime-threatened communities.

About the position

Your primary task will be the daily pedagogical work at Ungecenter Nexus.

There will also be opportunities to participate in our work with youth support, where we provide more individually tailored support to young people in need of help with, among other things, structure in everyday life, education, employment, finances, housing, networks and other areas of adult life.

As part of our crime prevention work, there may also be outreach work.

Your tasks will include, among others, to

• create and maintain trusting relationships with youths in the target group
• support the youths’ well-being, development and participation in positive communities
• plan and carry out activities together with the youths
• have individual conversations and provide support and guidance based on each young person’s needs
• work on crime prevention both individually and in groups
• keep an eye on youths at risk of marginalisation
• participate in outreach work when the task calls for it
• collaborate closely with colleagues and relevant partners around the youths
• contribute to professional reflection, documentation and development of the pedagogical practice
• as needed, participate in individual youth support courses.

Our everyday life can be variable. Therefore you must be able to work in a structured way and be able to change direction when the situation requires it.

The working hours are primarily in the afternoon and evening, and include weekend work. Ungecenter Nexus is open seven days a week.

We are looking for you who

• are educated as an educator
• have an interest in and preferably experience with working with young people in vulnerable positions
• are strong in relationship-building and can contact youths with different backgrounds
• can stand firm on professional assessments and necessary frameworks, even when this may challenge the relationship with the young person
• are curious about the young person’s perspective and can see beyond behaviour
• can work independently while also actively engaging in collegial collaboration
• can collaborate with different professional groups and partners around the youths
• have a driving licence for passenger cars (category B), as driving is part of the work with the youths
