About the job

The pulmonary department at Midt- og Vestsjællands Hospital – Slagelse, has succeeded in recruiting several specialists and we are about to start building the strength position that the Region has decided should be at Midt- and Vestsjællands Hospital. Whether you are a recent graduate or a fully qualified consultant, we have room for more, so if you are ready to take responsibility in the development plan, you can still become part of the fantastic team!

We have 24 beds at Slagelse Hospital, as well as a large pulmonary medicine outpatient clinic, which, in addition to pulmonary medicine patients at the main function level, also, in collaboration with Herlev/Gentofte, includes the highly specialized function for interstitial lung diseases and sarcoidosis. In addition, we take responsibility for the outpatient pulmonary medicine patients at Holbæk Hospital, and we already have pulmonary medicine specialists employed with primary function in Holbæk.

We are just putting the final touches on the development plan. Here we consolidate and expand several of our main function tasks, and strengthen our partnership agreement with Herlev/Gentofte Hospital.

In the Pulmonary Medicine Department, Medicine 1, we place emphasis on high professional standards and aim to create the best patient pathways – also in the acute area in collaboration with the Emergency Department and the hospital’s other specialties.

In addition to good patient pathways, Medicine 1 places a high priority on the education of younger colleagues.

Who are you?

You are a specialist in pulmonary medicine. You must be good at collaborating both internally and externally.

Our Department

The department performs the pulmonary medicine tasks in Slagelse, and is in the process of building the responsibility for the outpatient pulmonary medicine patients at Holbæk Hospital. In the outpatient setting, in addition to main function patients, we also handle the high-specialized area for interstitial lung diseases and sarcoidosis (collaboration agreement). The outpatient clinic also handles non-m malignant bronchoscopy. As of October 1, 2026 we have hired an additional 1 specialist to manage outpatient pulmonary medicine patients in Holbæk.

You will become part of Medical Department 1, which in addition to pulmonary medicine also includes the subspecialties gastroenterology and rheumatology with a total of 44 beds distributed across two sections, as well as 32 beds in the Medical Emergency Department. There is extensive outpatient activity within the specialties.

In addition to the main training program for pulmonary medicine, we also manage the further education of specialists within several internal and general medical specialties. Therefore, the department has a very strong focus on education.

The department also provides teaching to medical students from the University of Copenhagen and has attached clinical lecturers, which are currently not filled.
