About the job

As several of our nurses are in happy circumstances, we are seeking new nurses for AVA.

In the Acute Visitations Unit (AVA) we receive both referred and non-referred patients with acute issues - around the clock. This means that, as nurses, we work at the intersection of structured pathways and suddenly arising conditions that require rapid assessment, clinical overview and high professionalism. It is a everyday where no shifts are alike - and where we as teams continually prioritize and adapt care to match the patient’s current needs.

With us, professionalism and values go hand in hand. We work purposefully to deliver excellent nursing care - which means that every day we strive to provide high-quality care based on the best knowledge and with a focus on what is important for the patient. We place emphasis on seeing the whole person and creating security in an often uneasy situation.

As part of Sygehus Lillebælt we work from the value 'Patient first'. It obligates us - and inspires us to continually ask: How do we do the best for the patient - right now? It is a shared ambition that permeates our approach to both care, collaboration and development.

As a nurse in AVA you help to receive patients who are either referred for acute admission or come directly and non-referred with symptoms within internal medicine, cardiology, otology or urology. This requires your ability to create security in the first meeting, assess quickly and act wisely - while collaborating closely with colleagues and doctors to ensure an effective and targeted course. You will become part of a strong staff group with high professionalism and plenty of energy, and your effort has direct significance for the patients’ further course.

What we offer you?

  • A varied and meaningful work life: You will become part of a department in development, where we continually work on improving our workflows and patient pathways. Working with both referred and non-referred patients requires overview, flexibility and collaboration - and gives you the opportunity to use your entire nursing toolbox.
  • A thorough and personal introduction: We meet you where you are. You get an individual introduction program with fixed mentors who follow you closely. You get plenty of time to get into the tasks and the department, and we continuously evaluate your development so you feel safe and equipped for the task.
  • Monthly mini-sims and simulation training: We know that acute situations require training. Therefore we offer monthly simulation training in realistic scenarios - both in mon-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary sessions, and with different approaches. Here you have the opportunity to strengthen your decisiveness and reflection in a safe learning environment.
  • A strong cross-disciplinary collaboration: You will work closely with doctors, physiotherapists and other professional groups. Our approach is characterized by openness, respect and high professionalism - and we share the responsibility for giving the patient the best possible treatment.
  • A social and supportive work environment: For us, job satisfaction is not just something we talk about - it is something we create together. We have a sense of humor, are ready to lend a helping hand, and take care of each other, both in and outside the busyness. We believe that good relationships and respect for each other’s differences are the foundation for a well-functioning workplace.
  • Flexibility and work-life balance: Through the Wish Plan you have the opportunity to influence your shift schedule, so work fits with your life outside the hospital. We know that job satisfaction also is about balance.

We are looking for you, who

  • Have professional interest in - and preferably experience with - the acute and medical specialty
  • Can stay calm and think clearly in pressured situations
  • Are ready to take responsibility for both your own and the department’s professional development
  • Contribute positively to the work environment and meet both patients and colleagues with respect
  • Are flexible and thrive in a changing everyday life
  • Are willing to ask questions, are curious and open to feedback - and can pass it on in a proper way

Are you ready to take the next step? We hope you would like to be part of our department - and contribute to developing the future acute patient pathways. You are very welcome to contact our Chief Nurse for questions or a non-binding tour.
