About the job

Do you want to help give young people a good start in working life – and develop a new, cross-cutting leisure job initiative in the City of Copenhagen?

In Copenhagen we want to strengthen the use of part-time jobs as a targeted guidance initiative that supports young people’s path to education and employment while contributing to an active and meaningful leisure life. Therefore we are seeking a dedicated educational counselor who as a leisure job coordinator will help create good opportunities for young people – with particular focus on vulnerable and crime-threatened youths.

About the position

From January 1, 2027, four directorates in the City of Copenhagen will establish a new collaboration on leisure jobs. The jobs will primarily be placed in the municipality's own directorates, but we also want to include external partners. The goal is to give the youths a safe and good introduction to working life, where they can develop skills, participate in workplaces and gain experience with the expectations and opportunities that come with a leisure job.

As a leisure job coordinator you will play a central role in coordinating the effort and creating coherence between the youths, the educational counselors, the workplaces and the involved directorates.

Your tasks

You will among other things

  • collaborate with educational counselors at selected schools to clarify the youths' wishes, opportunities and expectations for a leisure job
  • create and maintain good relations with workplaces and partners
  • visit workplaces and engage in dialogue about job opportunities, frameworks and any special support needs
  • coordinate the cross-directorate effort
  • work closely with youth school’s (Children and Youth Administration) special programs that prepare youths for the leisure job
  • contribute to development, follow-up and quality assurance of the overall effort.

This is a new initiative where you will have good opportunities to shape both content and working methods. We also want to explore how leisure jobs can, in some cases, create a natural transition to junior master apprenticeship.

We offer

  • a varied and meaningful job where you can make a concrete difference for Copenhagen youths
  • opportunity to help develop a new and important initiative
  • skilled, engaged colleagues and strong cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • a professionally stimulating work environment with good opportunities for sparring
  • an area of work with high visibility and high ambitions
  • great independence and flexibility in planning your work
  • visible and clear leadership.

We expect that you

  • are passionate about supporting young people in their development and path toward education and employment
  • have a relevant bachelor degree, preferably with a pedagogical focus, or another relevant educational background (counselor education (DUEK) is an advantage)
  • would preferably have experience with educational guidance, for example from UU/KUI, a folk high school or similar
  • have experience with and understanding of vulnerable and preferably crime-threatened youths and the challenges they may face
  • have strong relationship skills and can build trust with youths, parents and partners
  • can work independently, take initiative and create progress in collaboration with different actors
  • be a visible, engaged and constructive collaboration partner
  • work in a structured and systematic way and follow up tasks to the end, including registration and journaling in relevant professional systems.

We attach importance to meeting the young people with understanding and clear expectations – and at the same time creating good collaboration relations across professions and organizations.

Employment terms

The position is full-time with earliest start by January 1, 2027. Salary and employment terms follow applicable collective agreements. Upon hire, a criminal record and child protection certificate will be requested. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply regardless of gender, age and ethnic background.
