Proactive librarian with a focus on children's services

Initiative-minded librarian with a focus on the children's area Faaborg-Midtfyn Libraries seek a librarian with a focus on the children's area, starting 1 February 2027. The position is 28 hours per week.

We are looking for a committed librarian who has the children's area as their natural focal point.

Our new colleague shall, both independently and together with others, contribute to the development and operation of the library's initiatives within the children's area. Faaborg-Midtfyn Libraries' children's offerings are diverse, and we believe the library can make a difference. We work, among other things, with language stimulation and a love of reading, and place great emphasis on collaboration with children's institutions. We have established preschool libraries in a number of kindergartens.

Primary areas of work

• Focus on children, especially 0-6 years
• Work with language stimulation for 0-6 years
• Preschool libraries and day-care libraries
• Children's depots
• Library orientations, book talks and other activities for the target group (0 to 15 years)
• Participate in the library's initiatives in the Cultural Backpack
• Work days at the libraries in Ringe and Faaborg
• Weekly shifts in the library space at Ringe Library and Faaborg Library
• Participation in planning and practical work in the library's Field Children and Youth
• Collaboration with the library's partners (daycare centers, schools and other cultural institutions)
• Tasks within the children's area in general

We expect

• That you have extensive professional knowledge of children's literature
• That you have experience in conveying children's literature for preschoolers to upper secondary students
• That you are able to put yourself into play so that children feel you want them
• That you enjoy presenting to both children and adults
• That you can convey love of reading and children's literature to institution staff and parents
• That you have experience and flair for participating in projects, also with external partners
• That you are able to realize ideas of high quality
• That you are a team player and at the same time can take independent responsibility for the task
• That you have an overview and work structurally
• That you possess good persuasiveness and can enter into new relationships
• That you participate in the process of design of the new library in Faaborg, which is expected to be established in 2028.
• That you actively participate in the general, daily operation of the library
• That you hold a driving license for a passenger car with manual transmission

You will be responsible for the operation of the preschool libraries and day-care libraries in collaboration with another children's librarian. At least 4 times a year you must visit the institutions, where you convey professional knowledge about the significance of books for children's language development.

It is required that you have one of the following educations to be considered for the position:

• Librarian DB
• Cand.scient.bibl.
• BA in Library Science and Knowledge Communication
• BA in Library Science and Information Science
• or equivalent, relevant educations
• or have experience from a public library

About Faaborg-Midtfyn Libraries

Faaborg-Midtfyn Libraries play a significant role in the development of the municipality and work closely with cultural institutions, schools, kindergartens, associations and private entities to jointly create and develop a diverse urban, learning and cultural life.

The library offers space for community and contemplation, reading inspiration and experiences from children's concerts to author talks. Citizens can borrow physical books, films and music and access eReolen, Filmstriben and many other digital services.

We have close relations to the municipality's other cultural offerings and collaborate on language stimulation, reading and culture in the ambitious art and culture dissemination program for the municipality's school children, the Cultural Backpack.

The library consists of four open library houses in Faaborg, Ringe, Årslev and Broby, which can be used daily from 7 am to 10 pm.

The staff work in a cross-functional organizational model with self-managed fields, which priorities tasks within given frameworks. All staff participate in tasks across fields and library houses. Each field has a coordinator without managerial responsibility, who must ensure progress in the field's work.

We are a development-oriented library with a good working environment and engaged staff of all ages. You will have a great deal of influence over your own area of work in a daily life that is characterized by challenges and varied tasks. You must be prepared for fixed day and closing shifts as well as a duty every 5th Saturday.
